German Bundesliga News of the day:
Karl Heinz Rummenigge FC Bayern Munchen Bayern Munchen chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says that the Bavarians' first-half display against Manchester on Wednesday evening was the best performance he has ever seen. The German giants recorded a 3-1 win over Manuel Pellegrini's men in this week's Champions League encounter at the Etihad and proved particularly impressive in the opening 45 minutes, as the expensively-assembled home side were pinned back in their own half. Franck Ribery handed FCB a 1-0 lead at half-time, before Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben finished the job after the interval, and Rummenigge was astounded by the quality of the visitors' display. "The first half of the game against Ciy was the best performance I have ever seen," the legendary striker told Bild. "What our team showed in the first 80 minutes of the game was absolutely extraordinary." Bayern top Group D of the Champions League with six points from two games, holding a three-point lead over City and CSKA Moscow. Preview Bayer Leverkusen versus Bayern Munchen Top Game on Saturday Both Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munchen will be brimming with confidence on the back of successful European outings when they collide on Saturday. The Champions League holders thrashed Manchester City 3-1 at the Etihad on Wednesday to continue their positive start to life under new coach Pep Guardiola. However, Leverkusen were also victorious in midweek, though they were made to sweat by Real Sociedad before securing a 2-1 win over the Liga side courtesy of a 92nd-minute winner from Jens Hegeler. Domestically, this weekend's meeting at the BayArena represents third against second, with Leverkusen sitting just a point behind their visitors after a good start of their own. Both sides are in the midst of fine runs in home league games, but each of their last defeats on home soil came against the other. Sami Hyypia's men have won all of their home matches since a 2-1 defeat to the Bavarians back in March. Philipp Wollscheid's own goal in the 87th minute did the damage on that day, after Simon Rolfes had cancelled out Mario Gomez's opener. The recent record between the sides is incredibly even. Bayern just shade the last 10 fixtures between them, with four victories, but Leverkusen have three wins to their name and have only lost one of their last five home meetings with the champions. Bayern are in ominous form ahead of the game, however. Guardiola has seen his side win each of their last six games, scoring 17 goals and conceding just twice. The Catalan coach is without long-term absentees Thiago Alcantara and Holger Badstuber (both knee), but Javi Martinez could be back in the squad after groin surgery and Mario Gotze's comeback from an ankle knock is likely to continue after a substitute appearance against Manchester City. Best regards ULI1234

Nice to see BVB lose, but what were Bayern up to today? A poor goal to concede, and they should have scored twelve.
