I love the movie "Quigley Downunder". Tom Selleck is great as the American sharpshooter who comes to Australia because of an ad by a rancher. The rancher is looking for some one to exterminate his vermin. When his vermin turn out to aborigines Tom says no. Things escalate from there and in a crescendo of gun play. A great movie in my opinion.
Then he is also great in The Daybreakers and The Shadow Riders.

There are so many good westerns that it is hard to pick the very best but I think John Wayne has several of the best. Chisum, McClintock, Stagecoach, The Searchers (considered his best by many), I could go on with several more.

In 1975, ABC aired the TV movie I Will Fight No More Forever, with James Whitmore, Sam Elliott and Ned Romero as Chief Joseph. It was a fairly straight-foward story of the battles between the Nez Perce and the US Army. I was in grammar school when it first aired and was studying that period in American history, so it was required watching.

As a movie it is decently done but is not accurate. What the true story is is of course obscured by time, contradictory stories, and romanticized in film and books. I have seen it listed on TV in my region so keep looking and you might find it.

It's a good movie but They did leave out the part where Johnson ate the livers of the Crows He killed.
