I'm going to say no. Cause it was the middle-class workers felt the threat . Whether it was smaller business craftsmen being undercut by their latino counterparts to the IT workers having to train their foreign born replacements to their perceived predisposition towards crime it was the middle class that really felt the threat, not the working class. The working class, especially the minority working class understood the implications of his speech and were not on-board.

For the most part not true. Their fortunes change they are looking up, not down as they understand that the immigrants are just the pawns and don't have the power to affect change in their lives and it is the employers that are the real culprits in driving down their wages.

It goes to show sometimes the differences within an organization can be far more intense the differences outside of it. The party leadership and the rank and file are not on the same page, some say they are not in the same book. As a result the leadership is doing everything within its power to maintain its control over the party, even tactics outside the realm of legitimacy. The reason people voted for Hillary is they perceived her as being the safe choice being that she had the money and name recognition that her opponent did not have. What people did not fully understand was the economic events of the past 35 years has reshaped the political landscape and not recognizing those changes made the party lose touch.

The leadership did not want him, but the voters did. The rank and file was able to send a message and it did. Voters on both sides are dissatisfied with politics as usual. Republicans listened to their voters while Democrats listened to their consultants, thus the result we have.
