It is such a stereotype and yet so true, so often, that the left wing generally steal public money meant for the benefit of poverty stricken and disadvantaged people, and the right wing generally talk loud and long about God and Country and get caught cavorting with rent boys in motels, or are in a deep and meaningful relationship with a sheep. These days the spirit is more collegiate and bipartisan, and both sides steal public money, take bribes and copulate with farm animals.

I was absolutely astonished that he, and Glynis entered the House of Lords, especially as he had been such a spolesman for its removal.
Admittedly, the 80s were not good for Labour. The 1970s IMF crisis and Winter of Discontent were a humiliation for James Callaghan and disillusioned many Labour voters (I recall listening to a podcast with people who worked on The Sun during the 70s and 80s. They denied being a Tory paper but a paper for working class disillusioned Labour voters). Europe was always a divisive issue for Labour. Left wingers instinctively resisted the idea of a "Common Market", with Tony Benn and Michael Foot springing to mind. There was however a "Europhilic tendency" which pointed to the strong socialist traditions in European politics. Roy Jenkins was a notable advocate of this. With the formation of the SDP many Labour politicians previously hostile to Europe finally turned towards it, seeing European socialism as a electable alternative to Thatcherism. The end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union made socialism seem like a spent force. Come the late 90s, Blair set about turning "Labour" into "New Labour".

I always disliked French (or Swiss) Socio-democrats politicians earning from 100'000 to 300'000 UKŁ and speaking like Karl Marx (as example), when hard working citizens hardly earn 30'000 UKŁ per year.
These people are not left. They are corrupted politicians.

Thatcher and Reagan were fanaticized by Hayek and the Chicago Boys.
What has appeared efficient in the 80's and 90's, pushed our democracies in huge economical problems since the 2008's crisis.

Ultraliberalism is environmentally unsustainable, socially irresponsible.

That's why we study, we calculate, we discuss. In other words, we planify.

Reagan was not a clever guy, but what was more surprising, it's that Thatcher had some scientific knowledges. But maybe she was too "old school".

What is noticeable this week is how dull some of the posts here are getting, I fell asleep just after the first full stop.

Meanwhile in court today we find one dumb feeble-minded bitch
Teenage girl 'plotted British Museum grenade terror attack'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44072265

Others in her family also seem to be of a similar mind-set, if only we had a door marked FerkOff we could just push them through.

No doubt the soft arsed limp wristed wig-wearing knobs will take pity on the psychotic bitch and give her a slap on the wrist.

Under the rules this girl seems to want to live by, we should really chop her head off in public and sell tickets. I would favour solitary confinement for whole of life, with no TV, no radio, no reading matter (particularly not any religious reading matter) and never so much as the sight of a human being or the sound of a human voice. Just herself and her own thoughts, hopefully for 60-70 years, and nothing else. Hopefully she will have gone mad a long long time before she gets to check out.
