she is certainly for legislation that will remove LGBTQ rights, pro-choice, any mention of CRT ( even though it IS a college level course and NOT being taught to 4th graders despite the gop's rantings)..she is for getting rid of environmental protection laws....and for more tax breaks for coporations and the truly wealthy...in short, she is for any and every piece of legislation which will further widen the divide in the USA.

quite a legacy. and pages ( showing my age ) of history will not be kind to her and her ilk.
I'd agree she'd be for jumping onto whatever legislative bandwagon already existed for restricting abortion rights, gay rights, environmental protections and making sure the wealthy pay as little in taxes as possible. But all of that has been boiler-plate republicanism for 50 + years anyway.

You know, far as being Trump's VP running mate goes, I should find it laughable, but after Trump won in 2016 I no longer could laugh when a person that would previously have been considered someone with no chance announced their intentions to run for whatever political office.

Why not have MTG as Trump's running mate? Shit, look at how close Herschel Walker came to winning the Senate seat in Georgia.

Trump winning the presidency sent the message to every other kook who ever thought of running for anything from President to Town Dog Catcher that...you know, fuck it, run. Nothing to lose by trying.

"and web pages of history" - there, now you are middle aged.

#twitterpages - there, now you are young.

Too many people out there looking for a Big Daddy figure to tell them how their lives should be lived/how to live their lives. I'm beginning to think sooner or later an autocracy in America is inevitable, particularly taking into account the number of people who have faith in the concept of an invisible, celestial being who controls our existence on this planet and what takes place after we die; those folks always seem all too eager to have someone here on Earth be their God.

your assessment may be spot on Qauckerson...after all...look at the millions who voted for # 45 citing "he thinks/talks like me." scary we have millions of people who walk around saying grab em by the pussy...she had blood coming out of wherever..and my fave...covfefe...whatever THAT means.

our system of government while relatively new compared to monarchies across the globe has been fairly resilient through more trying times in history BUT....aside from the US Civil War 1861-1865....all of our tests have come from foreign tests ( Sept 11, 2001 no exception tho the terror hit home )

its different now, as we actually have elected officials who side with a thug like putin and not a fledgling democracy like the Ukraine; they admire strongmen like those in charge in Turkey and North Korea, the kind that true conservatives like Presidents Reagan and Bush the first spent a lifetime railing against in our nation's interest.

President Lincoln, the first and best republican president ever said

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we lose our freedoms it will be because we have destroyed ourselves from within."

keep a very close eye on the gop. they're the ones going around saying take our country back instead upholding their oaths to the Constitution of United States of America.

Well, it's like that long-repeated belief that it can never happen here...until it does.

Just like it's always safe inside the fortress...until it isn't.

I understand from our news reports that LA has been experiencing blizzards and heavy rain? I never thought I'd see the day when LA beaches that're world famous for things like Baywatch and the Beachboys, are covered in a thick blanket of snow! That weather is far worse than most that we get in southern England, especially here in the West Country, and then to see such things in places where it's more often littered with people sunbathing! I've been there twice, and I'm wondering, has anyone got any film or pics of what it's been like at Six Flags Magic Mountain? I remember going there as a teenager and the wall of heat that greeted me when I got out of the car, so it'll be strange to see it if it too is covered in snow!

Yeah, whatever remains of the Beach Boys, maybe they'll have to write a song about snowboarding.

Ehhh..... I hear ya, and myself am not religious. But I'd say the disciples of "equity" are a bigger threat to the freedom-loving. And those who fuss and screech about their itty bitty feelings getting hurt, demanding more regulation of social media. That there is the danger.

Although they're great to listen to, as my father says, most of their songs are a little too "samey". Ironically, my faves of theirs have nothing to do with the beach, but rather cars, those being "Fun, Fun, Fun" and "Little Deuce Coupe". Great earworms and perfect driving songs!
