Making subtitles files (SRT) and transcript: my own way

Hello,

Well, to make my story short, I love to understand dialogs of porn movies but I'm some kind of hearing impaired.
If the movie is dubbed in my native language with a good quality, I can catch almost everything. But if it's in another language, it's very very difficult for me.

Unfortunately, subs for porn movies are rares, and when asking on related websites the only answers are "you don't need dialogs for porn"...


Finally, to understand more movies, I tried to find a Dutch or Swedish subtitles movie (I don't understand those languages though!) and write each subtitled dialog into a file, then send it to google translate, and finally make an SRT file.

The result is not perfect, but totally enough to understand all the dialogs

In order to make that task easier, I managed to write some scripts. So if some people wanna help making more subtitles for movies, here is how I do.

If you wanna try and if you have time, you can try it with your favourite movie: it is not such a pain to transcript when you like the movie


My way to transcript movies:

At the beginning, my script creates a file like this:

Then, if a dialog starts at 00:00:05, I just have to write this dialog in the right place of the file above.
Each dialog will be displayed for 4 seconds (by default), unless another dialog has to be displayed before.
I don't have to remove timestamps where there is no dialogs: the script will do it.

Finally, my file will look like this:

This dialog will be displayed until 00:00:07

This one will remain until 00:00:12, because another one occurs before the next 4 seconds

This is the dialog which appears to replace the one of 00:00:10.
And it will be displayed until 00:00:16

@00:00:15,000 -->

@00:00:19,000 -->

Once I terminated my transcript, the script will change it into a regular SRT file:

This dialog will be displayed until 00:00:07

This one will remain until 00:00:12, because another one occurs before the next 4 seconds

And it will be displayed until 00:00:16

Once again, this is not perfect (for instance, I can't manage milliseconds), but that's enough for me
