Not going to say how old I am but I still have mates who meet up 3 or 4 times a year for a good NIGHT. Some young ones that are half our age come along also.
Tomorrow 31st is the next Beer Festival and despite a few of the very elderly generation no longer being with us there is still about 10 to 14 of us going tomorrow. New blood has been added over the years.

My point on this thread is that I can No Longer drink pints like I once did, or my offspring can now. I get called an old wimp, or much worse, but after a few beers I end up on the Rum and remember most of the night and no hangover the next day.

There was a time though.

When I was in my sexual prime at age thirty I could masturbate two even three times a day. Now at age 65 I only do it about once every two weeks. When I was hiking just 19 years ago I did between 10-15 miles at a time. Now I can no longer hike because of various foot problems that can't be corrected by surgery. Now I can only walk for about two miles a day. In my youth when I walked up or down stairs I would run up and down the stairs taking two steps at a time. Now I only take one step at a time, because of those same foot problems that prevent me from hiking. I have always had what my doctor calls hyperacusis which is hyper ability to hear sounds. I can hear a full octave higher than the average person. This has not diminished with age. In fact my hearing seems even more acute now. One that has diminished which is good are my allergies. I used to be allergic to dust and dust mites, Ragweed pollen and several species of soil mold spores. Now I am no longer allergic to dust and dust mites. One thing that has come with increasing age is that I bruise more easily. I just have to brush up against something and wham!, the next day I notice a black and blue mark at that spot. And the worst thing of all is that when I was young I had a high tolerance of cold. Now I am becoming less and less tolerant of cold which is especially bad when you consider that I live in an American city that has an extremely cold Winter every year, and the heating system of my building is so poor. I don't think I am going to be able to stay here next Winter. I may have to spend a bundle of money and stay in Hawaii for the 4 month Chicago Winter.

Apologies if this has been mentioned but I recall we used to be able to take empty bottles back, usually of the fizz variety and the shopkeeper would give us money for them-ah the days of recycling were a lot earlier than some people might think especially in this country-a bit of extra pocket money in the days when if you had £1 you were considered rich
