Default movie subtitles

I have a .mkv movie with embedded subtitles.

The subtitles are not synchronized with the video.

When I go to Subtitle Settings, I can only turn on/off
the language; no other options are available.

Assuming I cannot download another copy of the
same movie, is there any means or technique I can
use to synchronize video and subtitles?

Thanks for any help!

Default video-help has oodles of similar requests over many years

I know very little about the actual topic but this site might help

mkv video sub-title out of sync etc

2008 - down the bottom always has similar requests linked
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/...nc-in-mkv-file

Most mention using all manner of sub-title editors - just depends on the specifics of whats behind the video & your operating system as to what software you need if settings
on players like vlc , pot player or media player classic dont help

software with user feedback

Default

At worst when you play your file with VLC you can adjust the subtitles speed. Sometimes it take a while but if you just want to watch that could do the job.

Just click tool on the top section menu and it's the second option (track synchronization or something like that, my menu is in french since I'm french)
