Haye Hate Hate Hate
Hypothetical situation
Lets say your home state has 2 fire fighting services 1 is the Metropolitan Fire Brigade which services your state capital, we'll call this state capital , Melbourne It's all professional and all unionized. The other is the Country Fire Authority, which services the rest of the state and is just about 95 % volunteer , the only professionals are the ones with full time jobs in the bigger towns in the state, the rest are those in small towns looking after their own community when the need arises. It has never been unionized as there has never been a need. Now, the Metropolitan brigade has about 800 professionals, where as the volunteer non paid are some 60,000 strong. Also, the Metropolitan brigade and the Country Fire Authority are separate entities, the only thing in common is government funding, but run by separate managment and boards, Now, at the last state election, the metropolitan brigade did a lot of campaigning for the new premier of the state who is a union supporter in general. The Metro brigade have been going through a prolonged enterprise agreement with the Government and a demanding control and say in the running of the country service. The members in the country service are now pissed off, it's not over money as they're volunteers, it's not over conditions as they're not employed .... It'a all over in long term the metro brigade getting their foot in a door where it's never been, just to gain more members in future .... More union dues equal more money for the Labor Party which are in power now. That's why I hate our unions here, they even try to be where they're not welcome in a volunteer emergency service, assholes. I'm in our CFA, and this one actually hurts more than anything I saw working in manufacturing . https://www.crikey.com.au/2016/06/06...he-ufu-crikey/
