Everyone ages, and you have to put up with it. When I turned 40, I needed to get reading glasses. The hair on my legs started to disappear and the skin would itch in the Winter, so I had to use moisturizing lotion every morning during the cold seasons. Also I noticed that my hair started thinning, and turning gray. My skin became less elastic, and when I reached my 50's I would often have a stiff back when I first got out of bed. Now I am in my 60's, and I can't eat a lot of the things that I could when I was much younger. I have more stomach gas. Chocolate often causes stomach pain. I was never a drinker of liquor, or soft drinks, but now If I have a sudden craving for any of these drinks I have to be very careful or there will be bad gastric distress. I have to eat more natural foods, such as yogurt. I have to stay away from foods that have too many chemicals, especially artificial coloring. I could go on and on, but I think that is enough. If you are a younger member:Read these words with caution

I've not done too badly. Most people assume I'm in my mid to late forties, I'm actually the wrong side of sixty. Youthful appearance seems to run in the family, my father and his brothers looked quite young for their age.
Being a non smoker has probably helped as well, although I am partial to a wee drink from time to time. I'm fortunate to be in fairly good shape as well, my waist measurement is 10 inches smaller than my chest measurement. But I've always believed in the psychological approach of 'think young, stay young'. In a nutshell I've not grown up yet! |

Before I forget, I'm reliably told that masturbation helps to stave off dementia. I've also heard that masturbation staves off dementia...........

I think that mental attitude has a lot to do with how you age. I'm sixty and having spent most of my working life in one uniform or another, I decided to say 'Sod this, I'm going to grow old disgracefully.' I refuse to conform and dress in the manner that people of my age are 'supposed' to.
So, if you happen to see an old git with a mohican, longish white beard and purple glasses, bouncing around in the mosh pit at metal concerts, mainly in the NW of England, please come over and say hello. It also helps that my partner is 14 years younger than me. She certainly keeps me young Last edited by gaeldom; June 9th, 2016 at 03:55 PM.. Reason: Spelling |

I didn't see my life passing, because I was lucky enough to have good time. I remember when I was a teenager and had to work to earn few money. I worked in boring enterprise in which I had not the possibility to undertake anything interesting. Each minute lasted like 10 minutes. When I left this workplace I thought: "Never again". I still had some loooooonnnng boring days in my life, but very few. I always took two books with me in case of. I always tried to find interesting jobs. Time passing quickly is a characteristic of a good time. |

When I hit 50, it hit me that I really had only 20, 30 good years left. So I resolved to retire as soon as practicable and to get back into shape once I retired. That way I could handle the aging process better. That Enjoy-Your-Time-Left, Be-As-Healthy-As-Possible approach has been working out well so far. I've even put a bit of dye into my hair, as it had gotten too grey for my liking.
But yeah, the ear hair, the aches and pains, and the loss of hearing greet me each day... |

I like where I am now. A few minor health issues, but surgery fixed one of those and five pills a day manage the others. My life is a happy and contented one. A good marriage, good relationships with my kids, gorgeous grandkids and my time is my own to pursue my interests.
