Eva usually makes me cry! I love her so.

Here however she gets down with her funky self.

With a little help from some dedicated fans.

Yep
Can't find a Youtube link for her singing "Heaven Only Knows"

It was featured at the end of a Sopranos episode,

There was also a record she did with Linda Ronstadt "Western Wall, Tuscon Sessions", those 2 voices together

Same song, also known as The bramble briar or The merchants daughter and dates back at least to the 14th century.

For me in the vocalist stakes it would have to be Karen Carpenter. Although I'm not a huge Carpenters fan some of their songs are beyond beautiful.
There are many others with angelic voices too that are too numerous to mention them all but a couple more of them would be Helen Reddy and Mary Hopkin.

Very interesting thread.
The three female voices that have stood out over time:
(in no particular order) Cesaria Evora, Nico, Carole King.

My favorite Nina Simone track - Love me or leave me. A beautiful voice and and an unforgettable tune.

Dohupa you are not alone! Deborah Harry singing "Heart of Glass", "In the Flesh" or the chorus for "Atomic" still possess me the way they did when I first heard her! Her band was top notch as well. Although I understand her live performances were a bit huskier and bawdier in tone than her studio work

Enya, of course, gives me eargasms.

And...right now my oldest son, he's 8, cannot get enough of Loreena McKennitt. I play her music for him during bed time-I can only imagine where it takes him as he drifts to sleep.

Good thread

Blessings young children: sleep peacefully and well. Let the grown-ups sleep not, but open their eyes.

I was gonna mention her, but I seem to be hogging the thread.
Was considering posting this, which i only recently discovered.

Debbie Harry was a ball of energy live, not at all like the demure, cool chic in the "In the Flesh" video.
Clem Bourke (the drummer) was justifiably centre stage and foremost in the mix.

However it confuses me to say I am a Blondie fan
