Peepshow Machines From the 70's
Back in the 70's, I used to shoot porn film loops for the peepshow machines that were once in every adult bookstore and cinema. I shot 16mm and where it ended up was super 8 prints that ran in coin operated booths. I serviced the machines as well so I know pretty well what they looked like. There are no pictures on the net of these machines that I have found. There is one, very, very old one I saw, from the 50's or early 60's where a place was raided. There are also pictures of some of the video based machines as well as pictures of the peepshow machines from the 19th century such as the Mutascope or Edison's Kinetescope. I'm looking specifically for pictures of the machines that ran between around 1969-1980. There is one arcade place in Vancouver,BC that has a few of them as nostalgia, but their site contains no pictures of those machines. Anyone else know what I'm talking about? You can find the peepshow vintage films all over the net, but pics of the machine, the film carts it took, etc. just not out there.

Why do you think it's so hard to find pictures of these things? Did the porn cops confiscate and destroy them all? This is the closest thing to what I'm talking about and the only thing you're going to find on the internet unless I'm missing something.

Anyone from Vancouver? Be nice if you could go into Movieland Arcade and get some pics of those machines and post them. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see them.

Cool, thanks. Wish I could've seen the actual machine. The era looks to be right, judging from the width of the guy's lapels. The 80's brought in video based machines that used a string of VCR's, replacing the film cart machine. One of the reasons I wanted to find pictures of these things is that I have been interviewed by sociology professors about my work with these machines.I remember they used to bring in anywhere from 150-200 dollars a night.

In the German porn flick Zwei geile Hirsche auf der Flucht there is such a machine appearing fairly early on in the film. If you check the caps in this post you see it in the first image of the second row. (BTW great film - worth a download)
