These guys have been dressing as comedy nurses and pushing a bed through the town for more than 25 years. That's a lot of dosh for the hospital.

Apologies for it being Littlejohn but this says it all.

Sadly that's the kind of sorry specimens with fuck all common sense that the NHS readily attracts these days, you can blame the Government for allowing these useless twats to thrive at senior management level.
It's obvious that particular NHS Trust feels it is adequately funded to refuse charity donations, if I lived in Shropshire I'd want that sad humourless bitch out on her ass. With her pathetic limp-wristed views she's a disgrace to the NHS which should encompass all viewpoints.

If anything, these helpful souls demeaned themselves. That is pretty tricky going round dressed that way.

Perhaps this Saphia Jackson woman ought to be ashamed of her clearly racist nature by the fact that her name of 'Jackson' is the same as that of 'Stonewall' Jackson who fought on the confedarate side...

She would probably be ashamed of how her family obtained the name. Sometimes people will change their given name to escape the shame of what their names actually means to them.

Interesting man. Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson. He was despised by his students at VMI, but adored by his African American Sunday school pupils. He was known to teach slaves to read and write despite Virgina's laws prohibiting doing so. He was a slave holder, but his reputation as a benign master was such that several slaves asked him to purchase them.

The contradictions continue into his military career. He was a brilliant and daring commander when on his own, but often performed poorly when other the direct command of another.

By all reports, he was definitely a very strange individual.

Why feel shame about being descended from slaves? A good proportion of people from British stock were sent to New England in chains, swept out from the prisons for doing really heinous things like stealing a hanky or a loaf of bread. They had to work their sentences out toiling for years in the fields at the wrong end of a whip. I believe that the last state to allow slavery was Georgia and that was because the cheap labour from British prisons had stopped after the revolution (though I can't remember the source for that) Look at conditions in Eastern and Southern Europe in the 19th century, those from the Russian Empire had to kneel whenever the local Lord road past and lived in conditions not much better than slaves.

The past is another place, they did things differently then. Why should we feel shame when we were not involved in it. Rather we we should celebrate the fact that there were people who were so appalled by slavery that they fought hard to stop it. We should celebrate the resilience of those people who survived it and make sure it never happens again, (although in certain parts of Africa, women and children can still be bought).
