I have no idea who appointed Ed Wood but he needs to go, I have never understood the director of football roll as surely the manager should be aware of who he wants and does not.
The "Special One" issue even has Auntie putting women's footie on the back burner, todays article looks as though the beeb has completely lost the plot or its a slow news day. |

I agree with you, the manager should have control of who he has in his team and not have to argue with clueless nonentities. |

Okay this was inevitable Liverpool have FIVE main players out, Salah, Mané, Milner, Van Dyk, Naby Keita and still out Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. I have my doubts as to whether Salah will be fit enough for Red Star Belgrade but will no doubt be rested for the Huddersfield game tomorrow. I am worried that this will hit Liverpool but we should be able to beat Huddersfield and possibly let other players get in on the act-give a chance to unused players for once. It's not going to be easy.

Spare a thought for Macclesfield supporters; 36 matches without a win and today...0-1 down to Carlisle at home. Then the age of miracles: a 79' penalty equalizer and then the unthinkable - an 83rd minute winner. Those last seven minutes must have been an eternity...Congratulations!
Meanwhile JM still manager at MU, despite what the BBC clearly think, and unfortunate not to get a win at Chelsea, Fulham worryingly leak goals at Cardiff (!) and are tumbling down the table, but a home loss to an indifferent Brighton side sees Newcastle sitting bottom of the table. I thought I'd suffered as a Leeds fan but, dear me, those Geordies have every reason to be morose. |

Van Dyk, Milner and Salah are playing-hooray! Mind you we've still got Mané and Keita out and Firmino is on the bench. Sturridge is playing a full game for once. I heard the game with Chelsea and Man Utd and at the moment a win for Liverpool will send us back to second.

Meanwhile, back in the Championship:
Leeds take 7,700 away supporters to Blackburn. Unfortunately the team failed to turn up, losing 2-1 to two set piece headers, with the Leeds central defenders acting as what can best be described as spectators. Elsewhere Villa, who have misfired but still boast one of the best squads in the division, narrowly beat Swansea with a Tammy Abraham (remember him?) goal to give Dean Smith a debut managerial victory on the day they bid farewell to 'Deadly' Doug Ellis. In a remarkably competitive league, only 9 points separate the top of the table from 18th position. Middlesbro' remain top, but WBA in third potentially look the most likely to sit there at the end of the season. Compared to the PL, though the quality of players is less than stellar and the gap continues to widen. Not one of these squads looks capable of surviving in the top league. I'm increasingly struck by this being the division where young homegrown talent will be nurtured then snapped up to, well, it should be 'flourish' in the PL, but 'benchwarm' seems more likely. And, if the undoubted talent such as Foden can't get a regular kick at Citeh then would a season on loan be better for him? |

Wasn't a classic by any means (Huddersfield v Liverpool) and a few mistakes made at the back but a win is a win and I feel we will be better(I hope) against Red Star Belgrade and then next weekend against Cardiff City, but they are a good side and once put us out of the FA Cup and League Cup so can't take them for granted.

If you live outside the Midlands, it would appear you only have one team, Aston Villa, although to be fair Frank Jr has now put Derby on the map.
The last time anyone heard of the Baggies was when Jeff Astle thumped a screamer past Gordon West in the 68 cup final. Is it not the same in various regions though where one or two teams steal the headlines regardless of what the rest are doing? The North West is a prime example with Liverpool and City coasting through the latest Champions league game and JM has yet again stolen the headlines. |
