Administrator Scott Pruitt is “blatantly ignoring Congress’s clear directive to the agency to better protect the health and safety of millions of Americans by more effectively regulating some of the most dangerous chemicals known to man,” said Senator Tom Carper, Democrat of Delaware and the ranking minority member on the Senate Environment and Public Works committee.

“The delays are very disturbing,” said Dr. Richard Denison, lead senior scientist of the Environmental Defense Fund. “This latest agenda shows that instead of using their expanded authorities under this new law, the E.P.A. is shoving health protections from highly toxic chemicals to the very back of the back burner.”

1.) No I am pretty sure Trump wants to go back to the 80s not the 50s. And except sadly for gays, people with aids & areas were drugs were prevelant the 80s was at worst a acceptably decent time for Americans of all races.
No one is asking for the flaws of these past eras to be brought back into the modern day just the strong points & the balances they achieved.
Example in the 80s...
- Racism was notably down compared to the 60s & even 70s.
But at the same time...
- Blacks were not allowed to riot & rampage the way that they had been in the 90s & recent years.

The only things conservatives & Trump ask of black people is to phase out gang/ghetto culture & to not riot & burn towns to the ground just because a individual cop might have done something wrong. That isn't asking too much & isn't asking of them something that we would not also demand of whites or any other race. It's the reason Americans are not allowed to riot after a football game in America the way Canadian's riot after Hockey games or South Americans after Soccer. We demand order in the streets by ALL of our citizens, that is not unreasonable.

The politics are pretty cynical (for both parties, really.) The GOP is hoping the economy holds steady and they don't lose too badly in the mid-terms. Best case scenario is that they hold on in 2018, and the short term paycheck boosts keep them in in 2020. They will have to start slashing Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid as the deficit balloons, but are hoping to blame that on the Democrats.

The GOP thinking is even if they lose ground in 2018 and Trump gets run out of town in 2020 (not the worst thing to have happen) the ballooning deficits will still force the cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, but that the Dems will be blamed for both the cuts and the tax increases as this year's cuts go away. In the meantime, the corporations and wealthy get to keep their cuts.

We the people are still getting screwed because neither party is trying to govern in a way that balances taxes and spending, restores our infrastructure and education to world class standards, gives us healthcare system on par with the rest of the industrialized nations, and creates a relatively stable and secure international environment.

The simple truth is that the United States government is headed for bankruptcy and will take the world economy with it when it collapses. Dominant empires have collapsed before and life goes on. New governments and banks are formed and eventually the riots and wars subside. If by chance the climate change disasters play out or nuclear weapons receive extensive use, we won't be around to rebuild. It will only take some number of millennia for the planet to replenish all the biological niches and we won't even be a memory whispered on the wind.
