Just Cause finished, seem to have the F1 2017 bug at the mo. Started on 45 difficulty level in the McLaren expecting to struggle. Lost tyre grip badly in first race, finished last. Finished 15th in China after running out of fuel on 2nd to last corner and Alonso pipped me Then won Bahrain after changing the strategy to do a long stint on medium tyres. Was amazed to win so thought this can’t be right. Bumped up to 60 difficulty. Came 5th in Russia after gearbox issues, but was never higher than 4th, my gearbox is forked after 4 so a grid pen is coming. I need to dump the difficulty up way higher I think. I want to be battling my teammate, so I expect to struggle, but these two last races I shouldn’t be anywhere near the top 10. Just finding the proper level of difficulty for the car I’m in. Talking to the engineer via microphone and getting spoken to via the control pad is amazing

Kingdom Come Deliverance: An historical RPG immersion masterpiece!
I've been so looking forward to talking about this game on VEF!!!
This is perhaps the best if not one of the best games I have ever played. I know that this is said again and again in the gaming world, for many different games for a whole host of different reasons and motivations/preferences, etc. But I mean it with all sincerity that this game tops every single RPG immersion experience I've ever played. Kingdom Come Deliverance is an historical medieval 1st-person RPG that essentially puts you as the main character in the midst of the early 15th Century in the medieval kingdom of Bohemia. You start the game as Henry, a simple peasant son of a blacksmith. You are for all intents and purposes living in medieval times. You have to eat food to maintain health, you have to sleep to maintain stamina and energy. Food in your inventory can go bad over time so you have to eat food in a timely manner. Your clothing can become dirty over time, which affects your charisma and reputation, which requires you to launder your clothes. I don't where to start about this game! It's just a masterpiece on every level! All I can say is that if you love immersive RPGs and you love getting lost in a world and spending hundreds of addictive hours, you MUST, MUST play this game!! One of the best ways I can describe it is...to me it's like the historical version of Skyrim. Totally open-ended world, total open exploration, 100% realism, but without the dragons, trolls, magic or any of that. It is purely medieval. Your opponents and adversaries in the game are bandits, brigands, rival kings, villains, drunkards, enemy soldiers from opposing kingdoms, etc. The game does have a main storyline. However you can take as long as you want accomplishing that, in fact you can play the game and not do anything in the main storyline for a good while. The number of things to do and see in this game is staggering. You develop skills by a totally intuitive and real-feeling system. To get better at archery you have to either simply practice at ranges and contests, or take to the woods and hunt actual game. Combat skills are based on medieval combat techniques, which again you have to practice: thrusting, slashing, parrying, shield-bashing, it's all here. I have NEVER in my life felt a more realistic combat system as this one has. You can't just go around at level one and "spam the A button" and kill everything in your path! Even when you are well into the game and have developed some reasonable skills, you can die QUICK if you get into the wrong combat situation. You can rarely defeat multiple opponents at the same time, you simply have to run for it and survive! But in doing so you actually LEARN HOW to survive as you would in a real world. It's extraordinary. You can only save the game after you find a place to sleep or you complete a certain percentage of a quest, so it causes you to more carefully consider your actions and what risks you take! There's no fantasy "dungeons" in Kingdom Come Deliverance perse. However, there are numerous historical mines, caverns, and under-passages to explore, each with its own set of unique dangers, like a hidden camp of brigands, hidden treasure, etc. What can I say about the actual environments in this game? They are simply STUNNINGLY real! It's insane. It makes Skyrim's environments look silly by comparison. Seriously, it's amazing. The forests in this game are like real forests. Hundreds of trees. Impenetrable woods and underbrush. You find yourself in the middle of a forest and your visibility is completely surrounded by trees. The outdoor immersion is staggering. The nights in the game are almost photo-realistic! And the nights are DARK! Truly dark! Good luck making your way through a forest at night without a torch! Genuine night-time blackness confronts you if you venture out at night. There is a full moon out on clear nights, which you can use for traveling out in the open. But once you are in the woods you had better have a light source. There's so much more. Bathhouses, taverns, historical merchants and craftsmen of every kind, villages, towns, castles, with every detail copied exactly from the original historical towns as they existed in medieval times. Cities like Rattay for instance are all based on the historical town, right down to where it's placed in the landscape. Essentially the game is perfect copy of the topography and landscape of early 1400s medieval Bohemia, all lands and towns that you can still visit today and where indeed people still live in modern versions of the same towns from back then. You can spend an afternoon hunting rabbits or deer or some other game, go off on a quest to help refugees who survived an attack on their castle, court a young village girl and start a romance with her, investigate a murder, gather special items for a royal wedding, do local village work, track down fugitives from various nefarious plots, etc. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that I've put about 50 hours into this game so far, and I've BARELY scratched the surface. I can't get over how addictive it is. It is many times more immersive than Skyrim, even modded Skyrim in my opinion doesn't come close. It's just an incredible experience. Best money I've spent on a game in probably close to 10 years. The developers of the game have achieved something here that's truly remarkable. Warhorse Studios is a tiny, independent group of developers from Europe who put their very heart and soul into this project. And to think it had a budget that was a mere fraction of what a game like Skyrim's was, it makes the achievement all the more incredible! To me this game is going to go down in history as one of the most under-appreciated games of all time! It's being overshadowed by much bigger studios and much bigger titles. One final note: There are a growing number of universities and colleges in both America and Europe and elsewhere that are actually using this game in their medieval studies courses as an immersive guide for students showing what medieval life was actually like. That's how faithfully accurate this game is to the historical time period, that's it's being used as an educational tool in the class room! Oh, and please don't let any review tell you that the game only looks good on PC at the highest graphics settings. That's total rubbish! I have this game on Xbox One and it's absolutely gorgeous! I'm sure it looks just as good on PS4 and of course you can mod the graphics on PC. But I'm telling you on regular console that game is visually stunning on its own. If you have the money available to do so, you must make this game your next purchase, you will not be sorry!

New game that I've found to be oddly addictive - Maelstrom.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...y-naval-combat Like world of warships and lord of the rings had a child and that's what this game would be. |

When I ordered a new gaming rig, a couple of years ago, i threw in two games to have fun with.
Well, I thought State of Decay was a different game and was really disappointed when I discovered I'd been mistaken. Months later I booted it up again... and voila. I was in love with this indie-gem of a buggy shit-game. It was fun! Now State of Decay 2 is out the 22may. (already available for us nutheads that bought the ultimate version.) Strange thing, it is still as buggy. But I love it. It's so fun. And not to get started on the now included Co-op function. Which I probably will never use. Hate that. Single Player is my forte. Check it out Jlly

I ditched WORLD OF TANKS yet again , its the OP Premium tanks
the terrible new Maps ( Province is just dire ) and the fact that the match making is so so bad - I have never had so many bad losses - or moron teams in one go over a 4 day period - so decided it was time to ditch the game and uninstall - sad |

Wow! Shadow of the Tomb Raider slated for release in September this year.
Even better, Red Faction Guerrilla is being remastered and released in December.

Detroit: Become Human (2018)
Got this PS4 exclusive today and after playing it for about 20 minutes, I must say I'm impressed. If you're looking for permanent action, this is not for you. Detroit: Become Human is an interactive film, much like Heavy Rain, with the focus being on story and characters and it looks stunning. This game also offers the best opportunity to see what the PS4 Pro is capable of. I'm looking forward to more later. |
