I know that it's nature of all things to return to the earth from whence they came, but, really...

When will this sexual suffering ever end. I'm not in favor of allowing harassment or groping
or anything of that nature. But it seems to me this accusatory movement has grown like
an avalanche, and like an avalanche it cares not whether it buries the bad or the good.

This is a wretched story. It seems that once your name is dragged in you have very little means to defend it except suicide.

Default Pakistani human rights champion dies

Prominent Pakistani human rights activist and lawyer Asma Jahangir has died at the age of 66. She reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest and was taken to hospital, where she later died. The pro-democracy activist championed women's rights throughout her career. She was imprisoned in 1983 and put under house arrest in 2007. Five years ago, leaked documents suggested that some intelligence officers had planned to kill her. Ms Jahangir called for an inquiry at the time, demanding the government "find the forces who wanted to silence" her. More recently she spoke out against BBC Persian journalists being put on trial in Iran, as part of her role as UN special rapporteur on human rights in Iran. Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi led tributes to Ms Jahangir, saying her death was a great loss for the legal fraternity, and praying for her and her family. Punjab state chief Shehbaz Sharif tweeted that he was "deeply saddened" at the news. Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai called Ms Jahangir a "saviour of democracy and human rights". Amnesty International's South Asia director Omar Waraich said Ms Jahangir had "never wavered". Raza Ahmad Rumi of the Pakistan Daily Times called her a hero. Another prominent Pakistani lawyer, Salman Akram Raja, tweeted that Ms Jahangir was "the bravest human being I ever knew" and that the world was "less" without her. In her career, Ms Jahangir was a staunch defender of human rights and women's rights, and a pro-democracy activist, and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005. She worked closely with her sister Hina Jilani on many of her endeavours. In 2014 Ms Jahangir told AFP news agency she had seen changes in the perception of human rights in Pakistan. "There was a time that human rights was not even an issue in this country," she said. "Then prisoners' rights became an issue." "Women's rights was thought of as a Western concept. Now people do talk about women's rights."

Default Vic Damone, renowned American crooner, dies aged 89

The popular singer and actor was known for hits including You’re Breaking My Heart, On the Street Where You Live and An Affair to Remember from the 1957 movie of the same title, starring Cary Grant. Frank Sinatra once said Damone had “the greatest pipes in the business”.

Damone died on 11 February from complications of a respiratory illness. He had been living in a retirement home with his fifth wife, who died in November 2016.

As well as his singing career, Damone was also in a number of films. He played himself in 1951 Mickey Rooney vehicle The Strip and went on to act in other films in the same decade, including Rich, Young and Pretty, Athena and Deep in My Heart, alongside José Ferrer.

Throughout the 1960s, he also made frequent TV appearances, guesting on The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Judy Garland Show. The decade also saw him reach the top of the charts with You Were Only Fooling (While I Was Falling In Love).

In the 70s, he toured Las Vegas casinos and turned down a role in The Godfather because of concerns over a lack of screen time, and – according to Francis Ford Coppola – a fear of upsetting Sinatra and the mob.

His final album was released in 2002 and he gave his final performance in 2011. He was a close personal friend of Donald Trump and met his last wife at the Mar-a-Lago resort. He reportedly received a call from the president in the days before his death.

He is survived by six grandchildren.
