Vintage Lingerie Catalogue and Commercial Ads Scans - Page 192

I have stumbled upon a small haul of some bridal magazines recently… as any lingerie fan knows, there are almost always some undergarments modelled within them, generally high-quality and elegant pieces at that. And this is certainly no exception.

These are the scans from just two magazines from 1990: from a time when digital imaging at any stage was a novelty, therefore the photography had to be exceptionally good, for the fact that it was a far more labour-intensive process back in the days of transparency film, Cibachrome prints, manual layout, litho masking for typography, airbrushing and re-photgraphing the final layout, for being made into photochemical colour separation plates for printing… a lot of now-redundant skills that have been dispensed with, sadly. However, the whole digital photographic, pre-press and printing process is so much easier these days: pity the final image quality doesn't quite have the same panache as was the case two decades earlier

But enjoy these examples from a time not that long ago, but of a method completely superseded

I have some more images, this batch from a few 1992-vintage magazines… hell, 1992 was not that long ago… was it about 22 years ago since I received my driver's licence and bought my first car (which was a '78 Ford Escort MkII)? Geez, how time flies!

And to think that all these ladies, at least a few years older than me, are now somewhere a bit north of 40 (I'm almost at that milestone myself now… on the other hand, Elle MacPherson, featured in an ad here, is indeed 50, but I've never really been a fan of hers, others may beg to differ!)… wonder what they look like today? I hope time has been kind to them, but at least now we can all forever appreciate them in the early Summertime of their lives (or at least as long as this forum lasts, heheh!).
