I will miss him. How great and exact his job was, how close he to the real colors was, shows following example:

1. The B&W request
2. demsal8´s great work
3. The real image in color found some years later
4. Automatic colorization page

Very sad to hear of Don's passing, he did several works for myself and inspired me to teach myself the art of colourising too. He will be greatly missed, a true contributor to this forum and a very talented man. RIP my friend

This is my first post on this forum. I'm so sorry to hear the loss of Don. I logged on years ago and said to myself I want to have him colorize a bunch of my B&W pinups from the 60's and B&W images from the 70's that I own and simply never followed through. I thought the job was too large and the idea simply fell through the cracks.

I came here today to find that person only to find he has passed away. I wish I had met him on this forum. What was wild in looking at the last page prior to his passing, one of the women that I was going to have him colorize was on that page... Roberta Pedon! I have the B&W images from that set and possibly have access to some of the color images from those series (so the colors could match). I was looking to do a book on Roberta Pedon now that it has been found that she is alive.

He did beautiful work on the images of Roberta, but would have liked to have gotten him images with the actual colors from the era

I had notion something had happened to him when I didn't run into him at the 2019 North Texas Irish Festival, which he would attend annually. Don was an interesting man. He served his country in Vietnam and then worked for many years in the defense industry. I'd meet him for lunch/dinner periodically when he was driving through Texas on the way to Oklahoma to visit his sister. He certainly was a talented man; I've met no one who could match his coloring ability. Rest in Peace, Don.

Even though I didn't meet him in person I still could tell that he put a lot of effort and great care into his work. The person he was and the work he did was very valuable to others in many ways.

I have taken a long time to consider my feelings about Don, who I only knew through this site, though we had family in the same area.

His work was a benefit to all of us; in particular he and I had a very similar passion for the background content of the photos he worked with, and the fine details of our photos. I once had a serious discussion with him about how much information could be gleaned from certain details of Roberta Pedon photos and the background of Mary Waters photos.
