I watched this film because it was posted in the best war film thread, but I didn't pay attention to the actual comments about it.

Palo5 is right, this movie sucks.

If the guy who made this film based this on his vehicle, it must have been the worst tank in the IDF. A cowardly, crying driver who keeps asking to talk to his mother. A loader who constantly argues with everyone. A gunner who doesn't want to fire. A tank commander who seems inept and very unaggressive, never fights with the top machine gun, just stays buttoned up. The Isreali military hated this film.

I have always heard that the Israeli military is the most highly motivated military force in the world. These sad sacks must be the dregs of the Israeli population.

1.5 of 5 at most.

John Wick
Ah Keanu Reeves,By all accounts He's a great guy but Dear God He's a God awful actor.This is touted as cult movie spawning two sequels but it's a by the numbers revenge thriller.It trots merrily through every cliche, The retired hitman,The obnoxious villain's son,He kills nameless goons without breaking sweat but needs fifteen minutes to subdue the sexy female assassin.
Shoot Em Up doesn't take itself half as seriously and is much the better for it.
The dog is cute,Though...

A far better flick than John Wick 2.
Mind you though, one has to admit Mr Wick is a very capable individual...

Overlord (2018)

<<Some spoilers ahead>>

So what we got here are a team of US Airborne soldiers on a mission to destroy some tower that will help enable the allies to win the war! Set in some forest near a small French village, the team also uncover some mysterious goings on involving experiments with the dead! ooooh!

There was a promise of mystery to this with the village girl Chloe's auntie who's "..very sick! .." That ought to have been an opportunity to be fleshed out further but ended up as a wasted side note as way to tell you that there is something not quite right here! Then there are the Nazi's and their 'experiments'! which aren't that interesting. What this really is all about is a drug to bring back the dead so that the Nazi's can rule the world forever and ever!...or something!

Not the most original concepts I accept but there was potential to; give us some real fucking nasty Nazi scientific experiments gone wrong moments including some of the mystery to the auntie's sickness!

Overlord reminds me of cut scenes from a Castle Wolfenstein game with a TV movie premise at best with some blood 'n gore and that's being generous!

Underlord rating 7/10

I watched "Molly's Game" (2017) This is the Jessica Chastain film regarding a young woman who set up her own high stakes poker game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molly%27s_Game She was eventually busted and became tabloid fodder. An interesting movie that I won't spoil.

One of her early customers is "Player X" - portrayed by Michael Cera - which made me think of this described as a big Hollywood actor that everyone wanted to play against - as a physically wimpy specimen - I was thinking Dustin Hoffman or Tom Cruise. I read later that the character was an amalgamation of various actors including Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Ben Affleck. Guess I was thinking of an older generation.

The movie is worth watching as you see an intelligent woman dealing with scummy powerful men, including gangsters and con artists. I have doubts - taking into consideration all the beautiful women that are around - that sex wasn't involved as depicted in the film.

The cast is all very good. Other big names are Kevin Costner as her dad and Idris Elba as her attorney. Graham Greene is the person who dispenses justice. I give it four of five stars. This was Aaron Sorkin's directorial debut.

Many head turning women staff the games, none are nude.

*Note: One of her punishments is never being allowed into Canada - ? Also I read, apparently, that Tobey Maguire is an asshole in real life.
