Thanks Norbert, but I don't get Arte. Have to snoop around, I guess - it'll be somewhere

We do get German movies and TV shows - Der Alte & Kommissar Rex usw - but it's all original language, and I don't think I've seen anything dubbed. Maybe if I could get a good cable package... but I'll probably be dead before they offer an interesting channel-mix

Watched "I Saw the Devil." It wasn't great, but I sat through the entire thing. That counts for something.

haha, I love Klaus in spite of his sad, leathery jowls of contempt. Or maybe because of them. Ah, there's a head scratcher.

Default Anne of the Indies (1951)

It's notable chiefly for a feisty central performance by Jean Peters as a woman in a man's world, crueller and nastier even than Blackbeard. It's the 1950s transposed to 17th Century swashbuckling Caribbean pirate cays; I quite enjoy seeing Anne repeatedly deal in extremely uncompromising terms with men who think they're tougher than her because she's a woman. Sadly and inevitably, Anne as "Captain Providence" sells out and falls in love with a young Louis Jourdan, who is already married and kind've forgets to mention it. Why does she go soft? Because she's a woman and Hollywood thought women would inevitably go soft, so they wrote the script that way.

I liked best the moment when Anne, having found out about Louis Jourdan's previous engagement with wife Molly (Debra Paget looking spiffing), maroons the pair on a remote and waterless sandbar called Dead Man's Cay, surrounded by the skeletons of previous victims, and gloats over them. She's cruel, mean, utterly vindictive and sexy as hell.

That's a great movie, the Peter Pan outfit they have Jean wearing slightly detracts from Her character's authority, and the fact that She is supposed to be Blackbeard's sister is a bit ridiculous.

It`s only just ending now , and i`m not kidding when i say it was abysmal . You know the type . It`s a horror film where the characters never question the obvious , never ponder the most suspicious of behaviours from complete strangers and take everything even the truly absurd , at face value .

somebody might want to watch this just to remind themselves to how horror films should never be made , i won`t give away anything . Just that the film is so bad i failed to figure out who the killer was . Then again that was probably because it was so poorly directed i spent most of the time questioning why such a such a shitty scene was filmed this way or that.

The blame can`t even be laid at the door of the cast , as in the main it has an experienced set of actors on show. Only the plot is so rotten , the script so outlandish and the direction so bitty you`d have to be one hell of a talent to successfully rise above it all.

Which brings us to an actress who managed that task

Telling you brother members Pell James was the only reason i stuck with the film , and the only reason why i`d grudgingly recommend this total rubbish .

Yes she was that convincing in it
