Firefox downloading to folders

I seem to remember years ago that Firefox would allow me to download pics to the same folder as the last one used. Now it wants to download pics to older folders instead. For example, when saving pics hosted on Imagevenue, it jumps around to various older folders, not necessarily the one I'm using now. Is there a way to make it stay in the newest folder and only go to other folders if I want it to?

Main menu ->Tools->Options->General->Downloads

The options are "Always ask me" and Save Files To :

You can use the browse button or type in your folder name.

I use the Save Image in Folder add-on. It gives you total control over your image-save folders.

I have been using the "Always ask me". I think it reads the URL of the pic link (say, Imagevenue) and thinks I want it to go in the last folder that a Imagevenue pic went to, even if it was months ago. Adding to the confusion is that I think Imagevenue links are different, (see the numbers in front) so that a sequence of pics loaded in one post at the same time can have different numbers in their links, confusing Firefox about what folder I want them to go to.

I will also try the Add-on that rlg118 mentioned. Thanks for both of your help.

My FF is set to "Save Files To:"

I use a general folder containing most of my other folders. I download to the General then simply move folders from the General to where I want them. When I download a bunch of pics/folders in one session I find this approach quicker than re-specifying folders each time.

FF keeps changing. I think I recall the "last folder option" used to be there. Not much different than a default in "Save to" though.

From what i've read on this issue its always been the same issue

The pics are on the same server so while the cache still has the first location in its cache the 2nd will trigger that location.This dates back to FF7 so if it were going to be solved easily it would have happened already.

Short of clearing out your cache regularly downloading into a 1 folder clearance house
rather than a tree like folder system on your hard drive has a lot of merit
