I second Photoshop Elements.
Installing millions of half-baked Shareware programs for single image editing functions will only trash your system. |

Corel Paint Shop Pro is not very expensive. You can download a 30 day trial at cnet here: http://download.cnet.com/Corel-Paint...-10727962.html, or you can buy it for $79. The version on Cnet site is version X2. The latest version is X4 and goes for about $120. It is a lot cheaper than photoshop and not as powerful, but it is decent program that should serve well to stitch images together. I hope this is of some help to you.

1: combine 2 complete pictures into one, where it doesn't matter that there is a seam between the two? 2: join 2 halves of one picture together as if you scanned one picture at once? 1: use the panorama option of Irfanview. It's very simple and every Windows user should have Irfanview anyway. 2: This is called 'stitching', where you have to point out 2 identical points on both pics. Not every software can do it. I use Micrografx Picture Publisher. It's old, but quite good. Check my scans. There must me freeware that can do it. Gimp should be able to do it, but I never needed to try.

Irfanview is, as he says, essential for a Windows user. GIMP is very powerful, but takes forever to load -- IrfanView is a very small program that loads instantly. The "panorama" feature is the easiest "combine image" function out there . . . pick the files, set a few preferences. Highly recommended |
