In NZ no-in parts of Australia a definite yes-but in the context of the only actual predator being a crocodile-there are several types of animal that can kill you there-including kangaroos, emu/ostrich, wild cattle/horses, water buffalo-but only one that would actively consider humans as food-and even then only opportunistically.

I would not be comfortable at all going into an area known for wild crocodiles without some decent firearm backup-and a longarm at that! Many of the animals above are pests (depending on the region) so are actively culled/hunted-but that is a different context from it being irresponsible not to have a firearm with you.

In contrast there are no such places in NZ-there are no apex predators per se (other than us)-we have feral populations of cattle, goats, deer, pigs and horses-several of which could kill people if cornered-especially the pigs and horned cattle-but in reality-the country and the weather poses a greater threat to life-NZ is (proportionately) a very hilly mountainous country-with very rapidly changing weather-so people get killed falling off mountains, being caught in avalanches, being drowned crossing-or attempting to cross fast flowing rivers-and simply from hypothermia-almost on a weekly basis...
...add to that we farm these hilly and mountainous areas-and you can add vehicle accidents on high country farms as another significant risk factor..

Specially for Palo-this appeared on last night's evening TV1 news:

https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-...ter-extinction

Now were THAT still around-I would definitely consider it irresponsible to go into its habitat areas without a firearm....

Incidentally-there are apocryphal stories in the Maori culture of these things taking children and the infirm elderly.....and since their prey was moas-which are big....there may be something to the stories...

Bill Shorten The man even other Union leader have warned is not to be trusted

Bill Shorten The man who as union leader traded away workers rights for dodgy fund transfers

Bill Shorten The man who even today is less preferred as Prime Minister than the current PM and not just by a little bit by the public

Bill Shorten The man who claims electric cars can be fully charged in 8 minutes

Bill Shorten The man who supports the Adani mine in front of Queenslands miners but won't support the Adani mine when in the Socialist state of Victoria just to appease the green votes

Bill Shorten The man who is so full of shit I can't wait till he wins the next election just so in about 2 years time I can tell everyone... "I told you so"

Labor I can sometimes live with and tolerate, Bill Shorten I truly despise as a politician and a person
