Like thought-provoking sci-fi with a trio of great performances, each with a hidden agenda? That's Ex Machina and this is Alicia Vikander as artificial intelligence being Ava issuing her first ominous warning about her creator.

For fans of French cinema, the chamber murder musical (yes, musical!) 8 Women is a stargazer's cross-generational dream by bringing together Catherine Deneuve, Emmanuelle Beart, Isabelle Huppert, Danielle Darrieux, Virginie Ledoyen, Ludivine Sagnier, Firmine Richard, and Fanny Ardant (not pictured).

Sometimes all you need is one leading lady, especially when it's Brigitte Bardot sitting around in her underwear to combat the hot Spanish afternoons in Les Bijoutiers du Clair de Lune [The Night Heaven Fell].

Finally, here is a fantastic composition from Zero Woman: Final Mission, dividing the frame with a shower curtain during a memorable scene that far outdistances the rest of the movie. Still, I'd watch that!
