A week on P@ge 3
For a while, I've thought that p@ge 3 pics are better appreciated in context, and that it would be nice to have a collection of the girls in weekly sequence as they were seen at the time by regular readers.
Serious students (!) of p@ge 3 probably like to catalogue their collections. Possibly this new thread can grow like rare girls, if I and other contributors add more sets. For starters ( or should that be starkers :-) we have ' Sing Along Week' which featured on p@ge 3 during the week commencing 12th March 1979. The idea is that the photo of the girl corresponds with a song. Here's the week's poses : Monday's photo features Rita Pennington as the Beatles song 'Lovely Rita - Meter Maid', Tuesday's shows Denise Denny in 'Puppet on a String', Wednesday features Tessa Hewitt and Lorraine Paul as 'You're the Cream in my Coffee, Thursday has Nikki Debuse 'Singing in the Rain' and finally we have Joni Flynn's interpretation of 'Flash, Bang what A Picture'. I hesitated over which forum to post this in, if Mods think it fits better in Vintage Talk then do move it there. |

Wild West Girls!
A whole week's archive of p@ge 3 for reference purposes(!)
Here's Wild West week, which ran on p@ge 3 on the week of 8th September- 13th September 1980. The first Wild West girl on Monday was Jannie Nielson swinging her Colt 45, described as a 'real hot shot'. Tuesday's glamorous Westerner was Helen Ferguson as a gambler in leather jacket and lariat. Wednesday's sexy sheriff was Karen Richardson - also including a competition for readers to win a photo session with Karen. Then came 'peachy Pam' Heaney who was 'raring to go'. Friday's girl was Debbie Linden as a sharpshooter who was on target. Final girl at the weekend was Lorraine Paul, a 'dishy draw'. |

Fillies Week
A later themed week, the p@ge 3 fillies were on view from 2nd April-7th April 1990.
First of the fillies was Kathy Lloyd who 'was set for the off' on Monday 2nd April. Tuesday's girl was Rachel Garley. Wednesday saw Christine Peake in jockey's cap and with harness, under the caption 'Saddle Do, Chris'. Those S*n punsters! Thursday's Kirsten Imrie is missing, but I'll edit it in later if I find it in my extensive (but disorganised) collection. Friday's girl in riding cap was Ruth Gordon, here as unsmiling as Rhonda Phillips. Finally the weekend girl was Helen Labdon with riding crop but minus hat. What about safety Helen :-) |

Space Girls
Now for a space themed week that ran from 29th September - 4th October 1980, and probably had something to do with excitement over the completion of the first space shuttle.
First on Monday was Sian Adey Jones - an early appearance so she was captioned as 'Lift off for a new module' (groan). Tuesday's girl was Linda Lusardi as a topless Russian woman cosmonaut. Debbie Linden was Wednesday's girl, starry eyed in a Flash Gordon type outfit. Thursday saw the appearance of Jane Warner 'going full beam ahead'. Friday brought another memorably daft caption, with Debbie Boyland 'Toying with a robot'. Saturday's girl was Lorraine Paul and is 'lost in space', though maybe we'll find her later.... |

Autumn Leaves Girls
Here's another, colespr.
'Autumn Leaves' Girls was a seasonal themed week that ran from 2nd October- 7th October 1978. There are three girls missing here - Linda Lusardi on Tuesday, Jackie Jones on Wednesday and Lorraine Paul on Saturday. As this is a 'work in progress' I hope to add at least Linda later - I've noticed that Jackie and Lorraine's p@ge 3 work is sadly underrepresented. First up on Monday 2nd October, we have Joni Flynn, under the great caption 'Joni leaves you breathless'. Her daring pose - that leaves just a little to the imagination- probably wouldn't get past the p@ge 3 censors today. Thursday's Autumn girl was Jane Warner, who was 'bright and breezy'. That leaves Denise Perry on Friday, who is reclining surrounded by fallen foliage. |

'Basque In The Sun' week
The inevitable dodgy pun announced a basque themed week that ran on p@ge 3 from 23rd-28th May 1988.
First girl was Jenny Blyth, who was 'on the undie ground'. Tuesday's girl was Sammi Greaves, who was always just known as Sammi on p@ge 3. Next came 'frilling' Sandra Jane Moore in and out of her basque. Thursday's girl was Karen Brennan, about to 'net a fortune'. Friday's basque girl was Mia Ford, who had the caption writer gasping 'Topless Mia is so topping!'. Finally, the elegant and lovely Gail McKenna appeared on Saturday concluding the week. Thanks to color 202 for the Sammi pic which enabled the full week set, all the other basque beauties were scattered around my large (but disorganised) archives. View to a Thrill Girls
Well, Greenman, I'll make a guess that this week will appeal to you.
'View to Thrill' week ran from 4th - 8th June 1985, just after the world premiere of the last Roger Moore Bond film 'A View to a Kill'. The 007 themed week (Monday had Sarah Thorne in a non-Bond pic) started on Tuesday 4th June with Davina Laurie in bow tie and stockings. Wednesday saw the appearance of 'Corker' Carron with the inevitable Vodka Martini. Thursday's girl was 'pure gold' Andrea Kovic, a more dramatic and less light-hearted pose than the others. On Friday, our own Sue Simmonds was the 007 girl, looking sexy and classy in black stockings and suspender belt. Finally, the weekend girl with the weapon was 'Sure Shot Suzie' Mizzi. |

Sox week
Sox week ran from 16th -22th November 1974.
First girl in knee high socks was Diane West with the dodgy punning caption 'Sox and the Single Girl'. She was followed on Tuesday by Lindsay Rudland ' Sox for the Girl who has Everything', and Wednesday's girl was Kathy McKinnon in an energetic football style pose with the heading 'Sock it to us Baby!'. On Thursday, Stef Marrian posed in socks, with the themed week being finished by Mary Vango, a p@ge 3 girl who's so rare she doesn't appear on Hoyya's excellent list. Both Lindsay's and Stef's pics wouldn't stand a chance of getting on p@ge 3 today. Much too 'suggestive'... Last edited by mikeleverson; March 20th, 2010 at 01:24 AM.. |
