By 'the history leech trick', do you mean the way that a browser gives away whether it has visited a site or not by displaying links to it in a different colour? If so, you can use the following extension to erase all history older than - say - three days, which at least limits the information that can be gained that way:

I have all history recording turned off in FF. Is there some way the history can still be accessed? Will this app take care of that? Thanks!

I think you're fine. The trick referred to here is simply that if you've visited a site, it displays in a different colour, and so a website can, in effect, covertly present you with a list of popular websites and find out if they're being displayed in that colour. This is dependant on your history though. Once the history is cleared, that display goes away, so it can't be done.

But your browser is set never to store history. I've just tried that out and I see that the visited links don't change colour in the first place. I've never tried that mode before. So you'd appear to be absolutely safe.

An alternative way of limiting the effect would be to clear the history automatically when the browser is closed, or manually every so often. I don't like the manual clearing because you either clear everything, or backwards for a set period from the present - eg clear everything in the last day. This add-on provides the converse function, eg to clear everything but the last day, and to do so automatically.

Also, as ohforf314 implies, this history vulnerability only occurs when a site has scripting allowed - this wasn't always the case though, a bug in Firefox has been fixed here.

A separate need I have for this extension is that if I let someone else use my browser and they type an address directly in, I don't like the autocomplete function displaying the name of some website I visited once, months ago, when I was drunk, and I'll never do it again, honest. This extension means my personal browsing history only ever stretches back three days.

Heaven forbid! You visit sites you don't want others to stumble upon? Hah! I know exactly what you mean. Thats why I have all history turned off.

Running Win8.1 x64 with Firefox v29.0. I noticed that imagehostgrabber is freezing up when i select a post to download. The hang time is almost 30 seconds till the window appears and tells me the program is working. I notice that i'm not able to highlight or select anything on the page until imagehost appears. I disabled my anti-virus and my malewarebytes, and spybot but it still persists. What could possibly be hanging the program from running for 30 seconds? I ran a malwarebytes and windows defender scan and came up clean.

I also noticed the cybormatt forum and page were imagehostgrabber originated from appears to be gone.

Any help in this would be greatly appreciated (alas yes, I have win8.1)

The ImageHostGrabber web site is down at the moment. ImageHostGrabber is hanging because it‘s trying to update its hosts file but cannot reach the web page. It‘s working normally if the autoupdate of the host file is disabled in the ImageHostGrabber preferences. Maybe Firefox v29.0 changed some timeout preferences.

That's a good point, but I prefer to have the history accessible that way, as I use Omnibar to combine the address and search bars; I can then, for example, type 'v', have 'vintage-erotica-forum' brought up, whack 'site:' on the front, then immediately search this site - or any other - via Google.

This may be stupidly redundant, but having just changing over to Firefox 32.0.3 from Google Chrome, here goes for we noobies :

If you use the latest edition of Firefox, there is an excellent Add-On that downloads from YouTube that then extracts the audio from the video automatically upon installing FFMpeg as the add-on support file at the prompt:

YouTube Video and Audio Downloader 0.3.9.1 add-on: works great for the music you want in your collection. When you download a full album as a single track, there is an Open Source program called Audacity that you can use to edit the file into it's single tracks!

That may work very well with the online rare music files you seek. Hope this all helps!
