Luigi Cozzi's alien gem, opens with a staple of many horror movies with yet another abandoned ship scene, a slightly larger ship this time. It soon develops into a global threat.

Last night I watched on Channel 5 a film that I'd previously seen at the cinema: Drag Me To Hell It's already been noted in this thread that this is a kind of homage to Night of the Demon, with its passing of cursed objects and its... well, I won't spoil things if you haven't seen it. Stylistically the two films couldn't be more different: Sam Raimi's cartoonish gross-out is half a century away from Jacques Tourneur's creepy suggestiveness - and my 11 year old was shitting himself. Well worth a second (for me) viewing anyway, and today I found a fascinating interpretation of it as being about the central character's eating disorder - remember kids, this is all just in fun. It certainly drew my attention to elements of the film I might otherwise have overlooked.

Hitler - the rise of evil . Its watchable enough ,but unfortunately the makers have kept well within popular conception and Robert Carlyle plays A H as someone who even in 1918 , you wouldnt want next to you on the bus . This character would only be followed by a man in a white coat not millions of adoring citizens . I wish someone would have the courage for once to show Hitler as a real ( albeit deeply flawed ) human being and not a caraciture .

В ТУМАНЕ / In The Fog (2012)
aka "Im Nebel" Belarus - Drama / History / War "Western frontiers of the USSR, 1942. The region is under German occupation, and local partisans are fighting a brutal resistance campaign. A train is derailed not far from the village, where Sushenya, a rail worker, lives with his family. Innocent Sushenya is arrested with a group of saboteurs, but the German officer makes a decision not to hang him with the others and sets him free. Rumours of Sushenya’s treason spread quickly, and partisans Burov and Voitik arrive from the forest to get revenge As the partisans lead their victim through the forest, they are ambushed, and Sushenya finds himself one-to-one with his wounded enemy. Deep in an ancient forest, where there are neither friends nor enemies, and where the line between treason and heroism disappears, Sushenya is forced to make a moral choice under immoral circumstances" Said to be good - I'm looking forward to this. The movie has a website where you can see a slideshow, stills, etc http://www.inthefog-movie.com/ IMDB gives it 6,8 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2325741 |
