Attention: There is a prevalent email scam happening everywhere where the sender claims to have a password to a site and demands money in some form. Ignore it, do not respond and at most change passwords on any sites you frequent.

Effective immediately, moving or animated GIFs are not allowed in signatures. If your signature has one, please remove or replace it asap. Staff will remove them as and when we see them without notice.

Sincerest apologies to everyone for the recent blackout. VEF and several of our sister forums had a major server malfunction. The database index is being rebuilt from scratch and may take at least several days to be fully restored. Expect major weirdness and lots of glitches in the meantime. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

Unfortunately it seems that all of the posts made from the 13th March until the crash are permanently lost, please feel free to re-post any such material, apologies for this.

thunderfly Vintage Member Join Date: Sep 2013 Posts: 896 Thanks: 6,620 Thanked 11,386 Times in 896 Posts	A thunderfly is a nick-name given to those large flying ants that usually appear during thundery, humid weather around August in the UK when the ants leave their nests and swarm. I've always had a fascination with this. I also think the name thunderfly sounds pretty cool (like a 1950s American car or a jet fighter) and, lastly, the name thunderfly could be attributed to the opening and closing of one's fly very quickly due to the material found on this web site.
