It's safer backpacking around Palestine with an Israeli flag..

I guess we all have different ideas of what a city should be.

I haven't spent much time in London in recent years, but I certainly do notice this: immigration has made London one of the great food towns in the world, when it once was nothing much.

All kinds of people and their food . . . that's fun, more fun than a dire trip for a Wimpy burger.

As to whether its dangerous, again, my frame of reference is long ago, but I remember a feeling of real public danger in the early 80s, Brixton riots and "Battle of Wapping" come to mind, and crazy scene after a Jesus & Mary Chain concert shut down in twenty minutes.

So maybe Sadiq Khan is a good guy, or maybe not . . . I don't know . . . but the "we're all going to hell in a handbasket" crowd might take a broader view.

I've never lived in London and took that choice deliberately back in the late 70's when I should have moved there for my career but having stayed with friends down there, decided it wasn't for me.

It strikes me as a City of extremes, slowly spiralling out of control and everyone either turning a blind eye, hoping it won't affect them, or in denial when it does.

The crime gangs are trading fairly freely - those from central europe, Asia and Russia, China and the Balkans must love London; as a nation we are so ludicrously inadequate at combating crime due to political priorities taking precedence and our police being woefully under-resourced, with a CPS who pussyfoot around at each given opportunity.

Colour, culture and creed are undoubted influences in crime but nobody has yet found a way of dealing with it sensibly without being called racist. It's not racist to want to stop knife crime and gun crime which predominantly affects black teenage gangs. It's not racist to wonder why sex trafficking from Albania and Romania seems to be their major export. It's not racist to wonder why the well-connected and wealthy can escape punishment..anyone remember the Saudi dignitary who was aquitted of rape after explaining that he 'fell' on the girl with his penis erect? Our law is being trivialised. But the more the community representatives, politicians and authorities dance around their handbags and wibble about social nicities, the more opportunity they give to the racists and extremists.

None of this can be held as the responsibility of one person.

One of those bastards hit somebody's ball so hard it sailed over a fence.

(P.S. NSF - well said )
Harrow on the Hill is such a scuzzy neighbourhood...I mean, Winston Churchill used to hang out around those cricket fields.

You need to move, asap, before those Harrow schoolkids mug you for your car keys. I hear they're planning to go off up the M4 to Slough and fight the Eton kids, and they may need the transport.

I tell you, London is going straight down the tubes.

Again. Not the day to day experience of 99% of us Londoners...well maybe 98% now.

Funny enough my weldy friend, the only place I can recall ever being under some sort of attack was in Netherton, Birmingham. We got pelted with stones by a nasty bunch of chavs down by the canal.

You weren't one of 'em were you?

As Paul Joseph Watson said in one of his YT videos. Sadiq Khan didn't tell police to stop chasing moped thieves because it was too dangerous. That was Theresa May as Home Secretary. Result? Moped involved crimes skyrocketed.

BTW. Does anyone remember the stories of black gangs doing something called 'steaming.' They rampaged mob-handed through underground carriages, grabbing anything valuable from passengers and assaulting anyone who tried to stop them.
