My family was always pretty open and there was little that wasn't open for discussion.

I don't recall what prompted the conversation, now, but I do remember telling my mother that "you'll never find my dirty mags where I hid them under my bed". Mom laughed at that and my stash remained in place and intact.

Turns out that after I went to college, my extensive collection was distributed throughout the house. Younger brother's friends were quite impressed that men's magazines were visibly left on a shelf in the guest bathroom (I would never have been so bold), pretty remarkable for the mid-70's.

She was quite relaxed about it , I even had a couple of pictures of topless women on my bedroom wall , when I was about 16
What's interesting about this thread ,is that it seems to be , roughly 50/50 , whether your mum approved , or not . Judging by the fact we're all on this site .....It hasn't made a ha'prth of difference to any of us !!! LOL

I had a couple of "hard core" magazines stashed under my mattress. This was late 1970s early 80s uk where these things were like gold dust. For some reason I was away from home for a night. My F**king moronic brother decided to get drunk that night (also in his teens but way under drinking age) My Mother decided , God knows why" he would be more comfortable in my be. Of course he promptly threw up Watneys bitter all over the place. My bed was stripped down and my stash vanished. I was too embarrassed to ask about it and it was never mentioned.

My collection was always out of sight, but not exactly hidden, so my mother must have been aware of it. Then she also laundered the pajama bottoms I came in every night, on a regular basis. Always returned neatly folded. Nothing said, though.

I can't even think of a possible scenario where the word 'porn' would even arise in my family home. Dad never had anything stronger than the Sun newspaper and we didn't have a video player till after I left home. On the other side of the fence my girlfriend's dad would read the latest dirty mag in his sitting room in front of his teenage daughters. My mate's mum was quite titivated by discussing lewd pictures of naked women in porn magazines that my mate managed to get hold of before he was 16. He told me he kept a little pile and his mum would borrow them occasionally to read the stories, and (hopefully in my fantasies) use them for masturbation.

She must have known about my stash. I'm not the only one who kept my mags in a box in the wardrobe. And she must have found the odd spunk stained tissue.... Mum's aren't stupid but they know when not to say anything. Bless 'em!

I remember one afternoon in 90 me and my Mum had a boozy day in the pub. Next to the bus stop home was a newsagent so we both went in. I jokingly said to my Mum " We should surprise Dad and get him some magazines, you choose one and I'll choose one"


I was expecting a rocket but she was well game. I can't remember what was chosen but on the bus home she said I should keep them for myself.
