Are You Becoming Immune To Porn?

In the pre-internet days the availability and access to porn was usually somewhat restricted to a special time when you were on your own and able to unlock your small but secret stash of tame porn magazines that were hidden in the back of some cupboard in the garage.

Access to hardcore porn was very limited and more often than not left to your imagination as to what things really looked like beyond the printed blackout spot that used to hide the main focus of your desires.

However, if you were lucky enough to have a few but relative rare copies of true hardcore magazines then you most likely had to pay an arm and a leg for the privilege.

But the effect and lasting memories of this limited and generally tame porn was overwhelming.

Come the internet and oh what a difference.....

A virtual limitless and ubiquitous supply of porn of any and every description, anytime, anywhere which has left me wondering whether porn has become something of a virtual commodity that you can access in copious amounts till your hearts desire.

With such an endless supply of porn do you, or have we, become immune to its effects? Was porn something of a secret 'treat' that has now become an everyday media that its impact and effect upon your desires is reduced.

Unlike the 'good old days' (and I guess VEF is testament to this fact) we could relish over just a few girls and one or two specific pictures and now we scroll through picture after picture and it appears to be more about quantity rather than its impact and desire.

So are you become immune to porn or do you feel the copious and freely available access is making you more addictive?

Good question. I certainly feel immune, or is it indifference? There is certainly less interest from me in looking. I do still search for the rare and hard to find, but is the excitement of discovery more about filling a hole in my collection, rather than the sexual tension I used to feel.

I think some of the problem is with Digital rather than the internet per say. It certainly gives us some outstanding clarity, but it also gives us volume, and I'm not sure I need 50 pictures all "one frame" of movement. I'd rather have video.

I'm too interested in the Cricket at the moment to give this topic due thought, so I'll see what others post and comment more later. Nice topic though. Thanks.

More porn equals better porn. Part of that is due to better technology in regard to cameras and delivery methods. The internet has raised the bar. The models are ten times better looking than many of the girls from the "good old days". I don't spend all that much more time on porn than I did 20 years ago but the porn I look at is way better quality and more enjoyable. I consider myself neither addicted nor immune to it. It hasn't affected my personal life. I'll be 57 in a few weeks and I'm enjoying sex as much or more than I ever have. Porn is like everything else - enjoy it in moderation.

I had a colleague once who had worked in a high-end candy store. Their policy allowed employees to eat whatever and however much candy they wanted while on premises. I asked her if she had gotten tired of candy as a result. "No, but you become very selective."

Not immune to porn so much as (as Baresfan says) more selective.

Also older, and less willing to waste a good stiffy on inferior product.

Like others have said, not immune, just a lot more choosy. A lot of modern porn I actually find has the opposite effect from what it is intended to do, hence my interest in vintage material.

Yea! I thought the reason for VEF was to educate and improve our taste, sift out the genuine from the dross.

Like others who have replied I too have become a bit more selective. I tend to seek out the (legal!) unusual and/or vintage stuff.

The problem with looking for what is regarded as "vintage" porn is that most of what survives has been posted in VEF and similar forums. I started watching old 8mm films when I was around fifteen - 47 years ago - so there is probably very little out there that I haven't seen.
OK, so the "vintage" dateline moves on with time, but it is getting dangerously close to what I consider "modern" porn which holds little or no interest to me.

I do find most modern porn boring and therefore not stimulating. I suppose this could be interpreted as "immunity" to it, as it does nothing for me. A pet gripe of mine is the current trend for ridiculously tattooed girls..I open a modern porn film, see an otherwise pretty girl covered in ink and immediately delete the file. I can live with a small, discreet tattoo but some examples I have seen recently actually revile me to the point of nausea..

My problem is porn may have made me immune to regular sex. Had trouble getting an erection with my girlfriend lately but as soon as she's gone and I break out my laptop, the power's back on. Might have to make my girlfriend dress up like a sexy hentai girl or a unicorn or something.....
