1fichier only has preferred status in CM. They have no say as far as their preferred status, we decide that.

If you paid for access and the speed etc is not what they claim, send them a message through the support portal. They usually respond pretty quickly.

That was intended to be a facetious remark. What is CM?

BTW I got a very fast reply. That was the good news. I didn't understand most it and they didn't answer my specific question, which was the bad news.

So I'm waiting for a second reply. Why is it that technicians have a problem actually completely reading an email and sending back a reply that doesn't appear to be "boilerplate"?

CM = Classic Movies. It is the only part of the forum that has the preferred host rule.

It appears that their support is not great with English. I have had to try more than once to finally get them to understand. My advice..... try to keep the questions simple.

Jenny - Thanks for your interest in my problems(s).

Here is the question I asked - "Could you explain to me exactly what my 1 Eu payment has bought me?"

I tried to figure that out by studying their price vs funtion table for the different account offerings.

I thought I would be getting just what you mentioned in a previous post that the ACCESS account is "... sort of account is good for people who do not upload, but want fast downloads without the wait time."

Well, hopefully I'll hear back from them, although I fear that they assume they've already answered my query and it's not their problem.

This is what they said -

Even more telling (to me) is that I wasn't having any problems with 1fichier FREE downloads and they only started immediately after paying the 1 Euro for the ACCESS account.

Depending on where you are, bank transfers might take some time to arrive and be processed before your account is activated. So maybe you have had your 3 free downloads at hi speed and your access account hasn't been activated yet. And it all depends on connection speed from your location to their servers.

Just my 2 cents.

Ps: 1.88 Gb/sec?

I never got 3 free downloads. I went from the long time of using 1fichier for free downloads to when they started to not allow a free download and told you that you had to sign-up and pay for either ACCESS or PREMIUM to use 1fichier.

So I signed-up and sent them 1 Euro via my credit card and Skrill who sent me an email confirming my payment(within minutes). At that time 1fichier started to allow me to do downloads. But (...ah the big but) they would only run at 30 Kips. It's been that way ever since.

The 1.88 Gb/sec was a typo. It's 1.88 Mb/sec sorry!

BTW, I'm still waiting for 1fichier support to answer my return email. I just want to know if it's me and to get a faster download I need to send more Euros or what.

It sounds like they did a Traceroute to your IP and they say they had a big delay getting to you. That can happen if there are issues with other ISP's that route the traffic to you.

They suggest using non SSL to download also, so you may want to try the links with http:// (leave off the s) and see if that helps. Also make sure you are logged into your access account at all times otherwise you will not get faster downloads.

Thanks Jenny - I might accept the Traceroute explanation if it had happened at anytime during all the months that I used FREE 1fichier. It only went to hell after I signed-up. And the transfer rate never varies, which suggests to me that it is being gated by the 1fichier server.

Another thought. I always disconnect from the Internet when I'm not sending or receiving so I would not have been connected while waiting for 1fichier to reply. Would that effect the results of a Traceroute?

I use J2D for all my downloads. Have been since they released it. and I don't think I've ever used a SSL link.

In any case, maybe that logging in is the problem. However, remember, the download proceeds (every time) but just at a very reduced rate. And that rate is consistent (30 Kips)

I only download from Midnight to 6AM and set up J2D to start 1fichier links downloading after Midnight. (My ISP charges me for every Gigabyte I download except Midnight to 6AM).

No log on and I'm not sure of the implications of having to log on will be. I'm asleep when all the downloading is going on.

If I log on, say at 10 PM, would that be a problem? I wouldn't be starting a 1fichier download at that time and would I still be logged on after Midnight?

I really appreciate your taking an interest and trying to solve my problem. Your comments and suggestions are starting to make me think that I might have to give up using 1fichier.

You can login to the account at any time and it will stay logged in if you just close your browser after you login. You won't be charged for any traffic until you start the download in jdownloader.

Traceroute hits your router IP so as long as that is up and running, it won't affect a trace. You may want to try cycling your router (power off and on) just to see if that helps.

Thanks. My router is always on and driving my Wi-Fi network. I keep my PC disconnected to guard against malware hacks. From the time I connected to the Internet back in the 80s, I have never had a virus infection.

I'll try that log on tonight. Fingers crossed.
