TSB investigated over IT meltdown

"The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) said the bank's boss, Paul Pester, had given an "optimistic view" of services."

It's not just online, we were in a branch of the TSB for almost an hour on Monday, their ATM machines were all down accounts were not being recognised on other machines and a simple transfer of funds had to be done manually. as we left there was a queue of 12/15 people most of whom had been in there for 30 minutes or more.
We withdrew all the money and opened an account with a new bank

Without wishing to sound too uncaring, I'm reaching the point when I really don't want to hear any more about the Grenfell Tower fire. Okay, it was a bad business and I feel sorry for those caught up in it. But yesterday, I watched a lawyer (I think) stand up and suggest that if Grenfell had been a building full of white middle class people, perhaps the Fire Service would have arrived faster and done more.

This incident is now receiving a ridiculous amount of very tedious coverage (like Brexit), especially on BBC News, although in disaster terms, it doesn't really compare with events like the Zeebrugge ferry sinking, Piper Alpha fire or Hillsborough, which had nothing like the same degree of publicity. The only difference I can see, is that the building was full of immigrants. So I assume that HMG feels the need to make a major production of what happened for race relations reasons?

I agree with you 100%. To me it is intruding on private grief.

We are having an enquiry and I sincerely hope it comes up with some good recommendations, discovers the truth and delivers some justice.

But I was not there and I was not affected, so while I wish those people all the best, being fed a constant diet of mawkish details seems too prurient for my palate.

I don't think race is the main issue at all.

Public exhibitions of grief is a competitive business these days and the media feeds endlessly on this 'Dianification'/ 'Outpouring of Grief'.
Many people who have nothing at all to do with the event or the people seem to wallow in this 'virtual grief'. Maybe they haven't had enough real grief in their lives.

Not sure that it tops Hillsborough, Liverpool's still top of the league for whining IMO.

Millions of people we don't personally know are dying painfully and horribly all over the world right now, not to mention the billions from the past. Should we also 'grieve' for all of them.
