Hmm. What I don't understand he upscaled the movie but still posted only one link. It makes no sense to upscale if you are not going to split the movies into small parts (for more cash). What am I missing here?

Sometimes upscaling and re-encoding can be warranted. If resolution is below 512x384 it is hard to see details and I have also seen enough of good quality rips ruined by a poor deinterlacer. If you have the dvd source it's better to re-encode the whole thing but if not, proper deinterlacing can improve an otherwise good quality rip. But these are rare exceptions.

Quality upscale (and if you use filters) take a lot of time and people like this not interest made "quality" upscale - only ultra fast preset + huge bitrate (for bigger file size - huge DL time and people need buy premium for fast DL).

Some hosts pay higher rates depending on tiers and the amount of data downloaded also. Larger files = higher payouts.

Over on Spankbang, I am seeing quality upscaled videos. There are some old JAV videos that I like and I was thinking of buying a $200 software to upscale them for private use. I wouldn't want to do more than a one button program. Is this worth it? This is the software that came up first in Google. https://www.topazlabs.com/video-enhance-ai Any thoughts?

I downloaded the trial copy of Topaz. Does it really take three days to upscale or is it just because I only have the trial copy?

I find no advantage to upscaling a 480p video file to 1080p or even higher. Instead you are introducing blurring, noise, "soap opera effect" with video interpolation at 60fps. If you have your video file playing to a TV set through a blu ray player, the TV and player do the trans-coding to upscale it to the TV. The entire process of upscaling older video to a higher format has no benefit. You simply either exaggerate the existing video noise for a smoother, blurrier image. Edge delineation is removed things get weird looking very fast. It is the same as with music. If you have a 16 bit / 44.1 flac file and upscale it to 24 bit / 192 khz you gain nothing, and in fact introduce more "saw toothing" of the waveform then there was in its original 16 bit format. If it is recording in 24 bit / 192 khz format then there is no worry. Down scaling has no issue either. It's going up that is the problem. In cases where you convert a flac to mp3 there is loss, since you are removing from the original to save space for the convenience of size. With all these video files having been ripped from either DVD sources at 480p , or from online streaming services and converted down to an avi at a loss, using those loss files to upscale is useless. Garbage in = Garbage out.

I've seen some upscales that are alright, however I separate them from original versions, because what will happen eventually is upscales are going to replace originals and we wont be able to tell which is which.

These are just my insights into the want/need to upscale. If you have a low res file and thing upscaling will improve it , think again. You'll only create a blurry, fuzzy mess. The audio as well, although no one seems to consider the audio when it comes to porn. AAC at a mere 128 kbps is fine, but its not the original audio, and sometimes all the up and down conversions of one video turn that audio track into a swishy garbled mess.

Its like a glass of wine. Don't put water in your wine to make it go further. It ruins the taste.

I just downloaded the free version as well to try on some old fuzzy rips. The 8-10 minute loops I've tried so far take about a half hour to process with a Ryzen 7 CPU and a mid-range video card.

Results are mixed- you can certainly make a video worse, but there's enough goodness there to keep trying. The AI certainly is more capable than I expected, but I haven't dropped the cash yet either.
