Can anybody help track this down? Incidentally there was a Parisian Club striptease scene in a later episode of the Roads to Freedom which went beyond the usual limits of the time. Our French teacher quite blushed at the mention of it next morning. Is this excellent drama series available anywhere in any form?

Probably one of the best BBC dramas ever. The title song is on U tube. Type La route est dure, into your search bar and those haunting tones will take you back 40 years.

Do any of you remember a programme from many years ago which featured a slo-mo shot of Wendy Richards wandering through a sunny glade in a see-thru nightie. It's plaguing my mind....I know it exists but just can't remember what or when.

The clip comes from the film "Un Amour de Swann" and starred Ornella Muti in the main female role. I remember the film distinctly 'cos of Miss Muti's wonderful breasts.

I believe this is the clip you are referring to. It's from the series "West Country Tales" - ep: With Love Belinda from 1982.

Memoirs of a Survivor (1981) is not actually TV, but might as well be judging by the cast and the look of it, and TV is the only place you are likely to have seen it as I can't believe many people could have gone to the cinema to see a film as unappealing as this.

Julie Christie is the star, a woman (called "D" apparently but I refuse to call her anything like that) living by herself in a world devastated by some unspecified catastrophe. But we are most interested in Emily, played by a young Leonie Mellinger (for whom I couldn't find a thread but she has a few mentions in this one).



Evacuee Emily turns up (with name tag on duffel coat, and without prior arrangement) at Miss Julie's flat, escorted by Alf Roberts no less, a man you can trust. It's a moment that's haunted me ever since I first saw it many years ago. And all along I've been dreaming of the circumstances which would enable such a one as Emily to be billeted upon me. (Meaning that for more than half my life I've been longing for the downfall of Western civilisation, which looking back on it, seems a waste.)



First things first - a hot bath! It's important that we get to see Emily's breasts, and her pubes outlined beneath the water as well. Never mind that a few scenes ago we were so keen to establish there's a water shortage, where there's a will there's a way. And hang on, what about heating the water? Well, I for one could have done it with my bare hands!



I'm beginning to think even I could have made a better mother to Emily than Miss Julie. All she does is sit there sewing, perhaps nodding occasionally. For practically the whole film! I certainly wouldn't have let the girl go to those wild street parties with "cannibal" gypsies where you've no idea what she might be eating and drinking - or even flashing! (And I bet my needlework is better than Miss Julie's as well).

Meanwhile, Emily is growing up and becoming more independent. She's even found herself a boyfriend, Gerald (Christopher Guard), who looks after abandoned children. With a half-share in an orphanage to her name, Emily is moving up in the world.

Sometimes Emily finds a spare moment to copulate with Gerald in his spartan room (now there's a thought - maybe she'd even put up with my place?). But, to Emily's intense frustration, they are often interrupted.

All those who once carried a torch for Mrs. Peggotty in the BBC's adaptation of David Copperfield will enjoy this second clip. For it features a completely naked Pat Keen, the actress who portrayed that character, in a strand tenuously related to the main storyline.

After a hard day's work smacking the children, heavily-built Victorian Mum removes the entirety of her clothing and corsets before finally climbing into bed (not without a CRASH!). Her husband (Nigel "Yes Minister" Hawthorne) looks on throughout.

It was my understanding that any self-respecting Victorian Dad would throw his wife out of the house for removing so much as her shawl without first snuffing out the candles, so by the standards of the time these must be a couple of "swingers". Dad maintains an ambivalent attitude to the stripshow. All that scratching at mounds of pink flesh certainly seems rather porcine. But I'll hazard a guess he reckons it's just about the sexiest thing he's seen in his life. He's just undemonstrative that's all.

First of I would like to say this is an fantastic tread and I have really enjoyed reading through it all and I am amazed how much information some people on here have.
My request is for a TV show, which was if I remember rightly about a British woman who worked as a stripper or something and had a young son and she went of to America to try to become a porn star.
I am afraid I cannot remember too many details as I used to drink a lot in those days but one thing I do remember was her complaining when a guy put himself straight inside her without even shaking her hand first which I remember thinking was hilarious at the time. I would be grateful if anybody has any information or clips and I wonder what she is doing now did she make or is she working in a supemarket somewhere

I have a request that cerainly fits in to this topic.

Some time in the 80's? BBC2 ran a short series of three or four drama-documentaries directed IIRC by Leslie Megahey which concerned the French painters David, Ingres, Gerricault.... I cannot remember the name of the series and would lurve to see these again.

In fact the 'boob' has over time shown many such programs and, since it was 'art', nudity was much more acceptable. One about Rodin comes to mind and another called 'Renoir My Father'

I never saw this and only read about it after the event. It is unlikely that any recordings exist but you never know. An ITV drama with Colin Welland maybe by Jack Rosenthal about a rugby-league team called 'Banglestein's Boys'. Somewhat notorious for its time due to a sequence in the clubroom with a stripper.
