Thanks to tabler for reminding me how good this track was back then. I was also one of those who kept playing it over & over again at the time

Then, yesterday, I came across an old Windows 95 installation CD-ROM in the attic and remembered this post.

So here are two versions I've done of Edie Brickells - "Good Times". First there is the original sized one as it appeared on the disc and then a reformatted version I did from that. Hope these are O.K.

This dude is as humble a guy as you'd ever hope to meet.He says he's going to sing opera, and you could just see the judges want to laugh.He proceeds to blow the nuts right out of Simon's lap, and at 1:57, I think Amanda had a gasm.

Even if Opera isn't your thing, this is inspiring.

There's really nothing special about this video. It's just that it presents a refreshingly iconoclastic song perfectly and when I first saw it in 1980 I thought it was too cool for school. I still think so now.

Its cheesy and you can hardly accuse her of creative originality, but she does the whole thing with energy, enthusiasm and very slickly. I could do without the ''Howard Hughes'' backstory bit at the start; its the actual routine I enjoy uncritically because it is what it is. Madonna at her best I think, good looking, stylish and enjoying the limelight without being all ''arty'' about it.

From the album Like A Virgin way back when Madonna was an honest entertainer who sang quite well, danced quite well and was very pleasing on the eye and not a global marketing phenomenon as she is now.
