Hmm...I believe it was Mark Twain who said "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."

The reasons people do porn are as varied as the performers. Some are already drug addicts or alcoholics when they start. Others have mental problems. Some people are in big need of money. A few performers have claimed they were forced to enter the business. When you are starting out behind the eight ball it doesn't take much to convince you to just chuck it all. So if you have a few deaths and combine it with a small sample size its not hard to skew the numbers to fit your agenda.
Compared to industries of similar risk the porn industry is no more dangerous or self destructive than any other. Check out the deaths in professional sport the last few years. Young people earning more money per season than they could ever spend and yet the suicide / death rate has never been higher. So would it be fair to say playing a sport, earnings millions, being adored and idolized leads to suicide? |

If you think about it porn with named actors started in the seventies, mostly young people who statistically should still be alive, therefore all deaths so far are premature, we will have to wait and see what happens to the 99.99% who are still alive, before anybody can come up with any conclusions

That the author includes Joe D'Amato as a porn star, when he was a director, shows the lack of research in his article.

As I stated before, many Pornstars shine Bright young and die fast. Yes many tend to die young. Those who live past 50 should be given a medal and worlwide recognition.

Literally hundreds of thousands of people alive in Europe and North America today have been in porn or other aspects of the sex industry. A vast majority (I'd wager something over 80%) of them give it up after a brief flirtation. Of the remaining 20% who make it a long-term career/lifestyle, only a fraction come to an untimely end.
