No I did not forget about yesterday. I got so involved with a funny discussion on the Aussie thread, and then I had a youtube.com problem that I could not put in a music selection yesterday!
Leopold Hofmann was an Austrian composer during most of the Classical period. He was not that well known, but Mozart knew of him and respected his music. Most of his life was spent as the choir and orchestra director at the Cathedral of St. Stephan in Austria. During this time he also became a music teacher of the Royal family. Hofmann composed well over 200 pieces of music. Half of these were symphonies and the other were concetos for various instruments, and he also composed choral works and a mass. I have several discs of his concertos. This disc has several of his violin concertos. Youtube.com no longer has the entire disc, just separate tracks. Always found this very moving. Written as a tribute to Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson.
