If it's of interest, we're told the Ambassador is being recalled for consultations. Which means they want to be polite to May. It's not like they're closing the Embassy, or doing anything drastic

Almost no EU state believes what she says off the plate, because she presents no evidence and contravenes even the minimum justice standards. They're doing the minimum to be polite, and don't want an open disagreement

My opinion? If she has any evidence, she should be clean and out in the open with it. Don't troll everyone like they did with the Litvinenko case, where everything turned out "could be", "might be" ... where everything was secret, nothing was open, and nothing was definite

Made great headlines for some, though

Do it openly this time. The world does not have endless patience, nor does it need to

Most countries have plenty issues of their own and I think you will find most of the world barely gives a fig about a quarrel in far away countries between people of whom they know nothing.

There's this duck that is exactly the same shape as a duck. It has a big label on it saying "Duck". It swims about and quacks. It is definitely a bloody duck. A two year old would recognise it as a duck. Because it's a duck. When you put it up against other ducks you can see no difference. They are all ducks and it's a duck. It behaves like a duck and has done things that ducks have done before for ages. It's just another duck.

What the world chooses to believe about ducks is irrelevant to us. We know it is a duck and we will treat it accordingly.

Orange sauce anybody?

It's TM's Colin Powell moment, from what almost everyone can see

If it looks like duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck but needs batteries from its allies, you probably have the wrong abstraction.

The Trump administration has started a trade war with China.

For our friends who still appreciate the lessons of history.

The rest of the US manufacturing industry is forced into exile. You cannot make this shit up. I would recommend to our American friends to be prepared for the upcoming waves of mass unemployment, inluding a galloping inflation.

Certainly the link to Russia is quite spurious. These poisons are readily available from Boots the Chemist and anyone in Britain could have done this. For example, I am absolutely stacked out with Novichok A-234 in my place. I keep it in the airing cupboard next to my stash of polonium 210.

I think Russia wanted to send a message which could only have come from Russia

But now their deniability is not plausible

Not that we can do much about it

What we should be doing is taking stock very quietly of all the dirty Russian money, and particularly of any money or assets which can be matched to politically exposed persons from the Russian Federation. The best way to handle it would be to mark down the targets and then strike them all on the stroke of midnight, impounding as much as possible the ill-gotten gains of Russian public officials, parliamentarians and other associated low-life. I suspect this would make a few people wonder whether they should have been quite so keen to support extra-judicial assassinations on British soild
