I´ve had signs on my door for about 15-20 years now,and it have more or less always worked.Ok,now and then, some braindead idiot put some ads for a new funky pizzatakeawayplace, but very rarely.
In fact,if a well known mail delivey company do this, you can just get in contact with them, and the person who ignored the sign will have hell to pay.

Of course, now, the only one that tries to sneak in free papers are the old postman, since more and more of their stuff is vanishing into the networld, which I think is great.
Less waste must be at least a little better.

I can understand that small/independent places must do this to survive, but I think they also must respect our choices.

I worked as a postie 30 years ago and we had to do this way back then. I remember that some weeks we had to deliver 4 or 5 different pieces of junk mail to every address on your round/route. 300 addresses x 5!! Yikes! I do recall sometimes literally being weighed down by the sheer numbers of them.

I still get them delivered today. In fact I had one through my door this very morning for solar panels.

Yeah, they used to be called 'Household Deliveries' then the name changed to 'door to doors'. All rubbish that you knew would just be thrown away 99.9% of the time.

Yes, the religious folks litter my front door on a regular basis. I should be able to sue them for trashing my property.

Well; they do say that God works in mysterious ways....?
(prefer the U2 song myself, much more believable)

I should print up some devil worship leaflets and put them on the front doors of churches in my area. I would probably get arrested for terrorism.

You can sign up to the Mail Preference Service and Royal Mail also operates a junk mail opt-out. It won't stop it all, but will stop a lot of it. More effective for local businesses is a 'Beware of the dog" sign on the front gate, backed up by a ferocious looking alsatian. Worked for me for years.
