Zombie Santa

Well it's October and Halloween is just a short ways away but of course the stores are already stocking Christmas decorations side by side. Like Rodney Dangerfield liked to say, Halloween "gets no respect". If people exchanged gifts at Halloween you probably wouldn't see the extreme contrast from ghoulish to love your fellow man on the store aisles. They'd at least push back the Christmas stuff until after the 31st.

My suggestion is they create Halloween themed Christmas decorations if they must put the Christmas themed stuff up early. Zombie Santa and his 8 skeletal reindeer would work well.

Anyways, what is everyone doing for Halloween this year?

Around here, we have a long tradition, very different, although in recent times are being mixed.

This is the "castanyada"

and is a party where we eat roasted chestnuts

and panellets,

also roasted "boniatos" (sweet potatoes), all accompanied by "moscatell" (sweet wine) or "vi ranci" (old wine).

Formerly throughout the fall could be found "castanyeras". They were some old ladies (or not so old) who roast chestnuts in barrels full of burning coals on any corner.

Surely you will think that here everything takes place around a table with bowls full ..

Well, yes. And is there a better way?

I read somewhere a while back that if you don't want kids coming around trick or treating you just put up a bogus sign outside your house stating you are a registered sex offender.

My wife's a nurse, and they are having a trick or treat/ Halloween party at the place she works.I'm going to dress up as the grim reaper, and stalk the old folks

I`m lucky as i live on the top floor roughly 150 hundred feet off grinding ground central .So can safely watch the sponging aggressive little bastards hammering on my across the river neighbours doors ; and then fire bombing their cars if they`re turned away empty handed.

Mind you it is strange that for some reason that night nobody is ever in and all houses are in darkness .

Although not as dark as the souls of the ghouls rapping at their door

Man and there's nothing worse than hearing a Halloween rap

Mostly as the word barely rhymes with anything .

Ours is on Feb ish and been to a party last year with colleagues from work - costumes and everything. However, I couldn't stop staring at the buxom blonde sitting across on a bunny outfit and also had too much to drink of that damn sangria - so can't remember much really.

Oh yeah i forgot , the actual thread question was what will we be doing ?

Nothing out of the usual , and i won`t be decorating the flat with gruesome Skulls or cruel looking implements of painfully medieval weaponry either .

Because it already looks like that now.

Yessiree i dun put my Christmas decorations up already
