I remember the Woolworths ads (Have a cracking Christmas) and (The wonder of a Woolies Christmas) celebrity-packed which were legendary, the other adverts at Christmas were for record company K-Tel Records and useless gadgets place Ronco which came out with the record cleaner and battery tester(which was actually pretty useful) the television was good family entertainment but I could have done with jot seeing for the umpteenth time The Great Escape and Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines. On the whole I think old Christmasses were better than newer ones of the 1990's and 2000's - or perhaps our memories play tricks on us and things weren't that rosy?

I remember Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Jimmy Saville may be rotting in hell for his acts but the amount of money he raised for that place might merit one day with the flames turned from furnace to oven.

Thought I revisit this thread and going back over so many posts themost obvious thing was the amount of cartoons we all remember. well this is going to make your year especially if you glaze over at the thought of Battle of the Planets, drool over Scooby-Doo or just remember loads of great Hanna-Barbera stuff OR even The Mysterious Cities of Gold/Around the World with Wilyl Fogg/Dogtanian and the Three Muskerhounds. All those and more past, present etc are here www.wco.tv I've downloaded dozens of shows-it is a cartoon lover's paradise-enjoy.

Lovley Jubbly...
Jubbly's flavoured ice back in the seventies...GIANT blocks of flavoured ice in the shape of a pyramid. No matter how careful I sucked these monsters, I always ended up with a "brain freeze"...

This was posted way back and it is thought that is where Del Boy's 'lovely jubbly' came from as remembered by writer of Only Fools and Horses, John Sullivan.

First memories?
Sitting on Blackpool Beach and putting my pyjamas on by the light of the gas fire during Ted Heath's 3 day week. |
