Being that we do not know the sincerity of his conversion I am almost willing to eliminate Islam as a factor in his actions. This guy had at least a 20 year criminal career with convictions for everything from assault to weapons charges, so this one was no angel before this so pointing out that jailhouse convert's religous choice is the problem is something I cannot buy.

So what would his motives be for comitting these murders, then? He may have been no angel and I don't actually know his record, but surely whenever he comitted those crimes in the past he must've had a motive, whether to get money or drugs or whatever.

Intrigued by this, I googled Canadian news about the London attack vs. the Canadian news about the Israeli-Jew bomber.

In the vannax quoted short blurb - it's not even an article - about the Jewish bomber, the word 'Jewish' was stated 8 times. They made certain the religion of the suspect was clearly stated and known; quite redundantly, in fact.

In the 3 Canadian news articles I read about the London attacker, the religion of the attacker was not stated at all. At all. Readers had to infer it from context of IS claims of responsibility, along with it being 1yr. since Brussels, which Canadian news had to report or give up any pretense of actual journalism.

This is blatant. I stand by my distrust of modern 'journalism', and come down firmly on vannax's side in this.

I don't know why media does this, - although I absolutely have my suspicions - why is it in their interest to deflect and obfuscate on Radical Islamist attacks?

I know nothing about the reporting of the London attack in the Canadian media. But I assure you that every other report I have read or watched made it clear that the attacker was a convert to Islam.
As to his motive....if, as some reports state, he was a body builder might steroids have played a part.

Ugly stuff, but I could easily make an equivalent list every day of violent incidents and murders in the United States.

I must remind you that it is my belief that we ought to leave the Muslim world to sort out their own problems. This means removing Western troops and placing an embargo on arms sales. Let the people of the Middle East determine the boundaries off countries and the government they prefer. This also means halting the flow of migrants and refugees. This will not happen, because if the United States butts out, the French and Russians will increase their weapons sales and other states (China) will be sorely tempted to meddle.

There are Muslims living in my building and a dozen Sunni mosques alone in Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville and Oakland. I pretty much interact with Muslims everyday and rarely feel uncomfortable. However, I often frighten these Muslims when they first encounter me. (I am a 6'3", 275 lb. former college defensive lineman.) Like I have said repeatedly, I find the Muslims I encounter to be normal, everyday folks. I am sure there are some scary folks among them. I have had interactions with Hells Angels, Black Panthers, mafiosi, cops, and true bad asses - Army Rangers, Green Berets, Marine Special Forces, and Navy Seals. We got some really scary dudes in Oakland, but these Muslims aren't among them. It reminds me of Chris Rock's observation that the 9/11 hijackers didn't try to capture any flights out of Detroit.

All in Capitals to make it more important than it is, yes the British woman does get some negative reaction but it's from a group of pig ignorant religious zealots whose opinions I would not dignify with any response. She tries to question some but they are not allowed to think outside the narrow thought range allowed by that particular twisted version of their faith.

Not all Muslims are like that though, what I would like to see are moderate Muslims gathering with "Not in our Name" marches. Change has to come from inside Islam. Sadly I see no real signs of that happening

There are a few ways of dealing with marches like that

1 - Let them do it and just ignore their stupid messages as anyone who has the capacity to think for themselves knows they are moronic 13th century throwbacks.
2 - break it up and let them believe that proves their ludicrous claims.

As for British Police go to Hell, there ain't no such thing as Heaven or Hell we're all worm fodder when we die so ignorant chants like that just make me laugh.

Marches like this do nothing but polarise opinion against those idiots involved so are totally counter-productive.

Oh, I seriously doubt that is going to happen. In the first place, we have a great influx of Latinos and East Asians into the city. Secondly, Oakland has ranked in the top 10 of the most dangerous cities in the United States for many years. Like I said, we've got some really scary dudes here in Oakland. For example, the Oakland chapter of the Hells Angels is the mothership. We got the Bloods, Crips, Surenos, Nortenos, and an indigenous outfit in East Oakland. Several dead bodies a week show up in the vicinity of 98th & Edes. That's the neighborhood where I recycled my aluminum cans yesterday afternoon.

I'm Oakland born and bred. I know which colors I can wear in each neighborhood. I swear, we got a bunch of scaredy cats on this site. Y'all be sure to sleep with the light on, OK.

I hope Detroit is better than it used to be. I have a cousin who used to live in Chicago and she told us all a remarkable tale of catching the Greyhound bus in the Detroit bus station. The place was crawling with extremely dangerous looking people openly engaged in drugs trading and all sorts of street crime; it was a bit like a George Romero movie. A section of the bus station was cordened off and guarded by police with shotguns, so that the passengers could wait for the bus safely. When one obvious street felon strayed a bit too close to the cordon, a policeman pumped the action on his shotgun and told him:

One step closer and there will be two of you.

Things must have calmed down a bit since then, surely?
