As any avid fan of The Doors knows,
Rhino is reissuing The Doors’ classic album L.A.
Woman to mark its 40th anniversary on January 24th (23rd in the UK).
It will be released as a two-disc reissue with alternate takes on many tracks,
including “Riders on the Storm”, “Love Her Madly”, and “L.A. Woman”.

But perhaps the most exciting news is the unveiling of a never-before released Doors track by the name of “She Smells So Nice”.
Producer Bruce Botnick discovered the track on an old session tape while working on the reissue.
“She Smells So Nice” is definitely one of the band’s bluesier efforts,
recalling the likes of Charles Brown more than the organ-led psychedelic-rock they’re known best for.
There are only 30-second snippets available for streaming at the moment, but the whole thing sounds great.

'Make it with you' first appeared on Bread's 1970 album On the Waters. Released as a single in June 1970, it became the group's first top ten and only number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the U.S., spending the week of August 22, 1970, at the top spot.
Aretha Franklin, Earth, Wind & Fire, Dusty Springfield, The Originals, The Main Ingredient, The Whispers, Marc Anthony, Teddy Pendergrass, Don Julian & The Larks, Let Loose, Dennis Brown, Andy Williams, Lou Donaldson, Tony Mottola, and Marc Cohn are amongst those who have recorded cover versions of the song.
It has also been recorded in other languages including Spanish as 'Quiero Hacerte El Amor' .

Back to Jerry "Boogie" McCain. There's a lot of his stuff on youtube which is surprising as he never had much recording success and isn't that well known. Hell, he usually always had to work a regular job to get by. Here he's doing a song called Wine-O-Wine:

He's in his 80s now and still is at it. People here that have been in a band can probably relate to this clip (a small indifferent audience that doesn't seem to have much interest in him) from a few months ago. I like the part where he looks to scare the b'jesus out of the little girl when he gets to wandering off through the audience:

Showdown was written by Jeff Lynne and recorded by the Electric Light Orchestra(ELO).
It was a favourite record of John Lennon's at the time, who dubbed ELO "Son of Beatles" in a US radio interview.
