When US tv series Happy Days had an episode where one of the characters(I think it was the Fonz) decides to do a jump on waterskis over a shark this coined a phrase in the industry for taking a character(s) in a television series and putting them in the most ridiculous or far-fetched situation possible - 'jumping the shark' and there are several instances where this has come into play over the years in many comedy and drama series-it basically means someone had what they thought was a brilliant idea at the time, but it turns out to be a mistake. I can't think of any offhand but please feel free to list which ones you know to have 'jumped the shark.'

Just a bit of trivia to end with-did you know that the Fonz's original black leather jacket is in the Smithsonian Institute?

One springs to mind - Henry Winkler (who played The Fonz), played a shonky lawyer in Arrested Development. One episode features him literally jumping over a shark as he walks along a marina boardwalk.

For the record, Seattle has lost two teams: The Pilots baseball team which moved to Milwaukee to become the Brewers in 1969, and the Supersonics basketball team in 2008 to become the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The word 'mullet', used to describe a man's hairstyle that is short on top but long at the back, was invented by rap group The Beastie Boys.

True, but my original post was about cities losing two teams in the same sport. Our late brother winebeavis also pointed out the cities that have lost multiple teams in multiple sports.

Tim Allen, the voice of Buzz Lightyear in 'Toy Story' and star of the movie 'Galaxy Quest', was convicted of drug trafficking in the late 1970s, and received a reduced custodial sentence of 3-7 years (served 2.5 years) because he provided authorities with the names of other dealers.
