You're a right cheerful Charlie today Xxphd, you'll be telling us the world is going to end next Seriously though we check our fruit and vegetables and I am pretty sure that major supermarkets, even the milkman would remove anything they thought was infected or dodgy.
Nice day today chaps, not too hot thankfully and most pleasant for a June day. I see that the Queen wants neighbours & friends to have a lunch with each other, either in roads as a street party OR as a get together with your friends or neighbours. I can't see that happening in this street-like many areas around here(with some exceptions) everyone keeps themselves to themselves and the idea of being neighbourly is almost an alien concept-mind you we have a lot of foreign neighbours some from the Eastern Bloc and some Indian people-unless someone takes the initiative next year and co-ordinates for this road at least, it will be a damp squib!

I'm an amateur twitcher. Love getting up at first light and watching the birds. Flying from tree to nest. Put some tea on to brew and some bacon under the grill, and BB is happy

The only time I would contemplate going to bed with the birdsong is if I had been up all night with a)on the toilet with an attack of diarrhoea or bad stomach ache, b)sleepless night disturbed by noise other than a bird, or c)Olympics/Commonwealth Games that were broadcast through the night, like 2008 Beijing in which case I would sleep through until 11am I was so knackered

Years ago, I had a tree full of starlings outside my bedroom window all decided to start singing (or whatever they do) at 3 in the morning. Millions of the little birds all making noise at once. I went out with the hose and sprayed the tree down with water. That shut them up for about 15 minutes then they came back. At this point I decided to escalate the battle and started firing off pop-bottle rockets into the tree. A few dead terrorist birds later and they moved on to different territory.

Reminds me of Tony Hancock-The Radio Ham when he is railing about the birds(blue tits) pecking holes in his gold top milk and walking on his sliced loaf-left by the milkman-he blames the woman next door encouraging them by putting out bits of bacon rind. "Just let one of them walk on my sliced loaf again that's all, I'll shove a few hundreds volts through it, that will make it's feet tingle!" I am not sure I would resort to guerilla tactics like that blueballsdc - nothing against birds per se, just them twittering away at a time I want to sleep

Going to bed with birdsong GM loved it. Now I awaken to the critters. I don't sleep well anyway. And I hate tossing and turning. So I tend to get up and relax while the rest of the neighbourhood is snoring. Of course the summer months are the best. I don't sit out in the rain or snow.

I like the birds honest guv, but having been driven close to mental in 2008 by night-time roadworks and helicopters flying low searching for escaped felons, exacerbating my blood pressure to hypertensive(and I didn't know this at the time) I am used to that so when the birds tweet it is almost alien to me because it is the first time it has been quiet enough to hear the little bleeders!
