When you buy a gun from registered dealer your gun is registered and in the data base , but if you buy it privately or buy it from someone else or just plain find a gun they are not, If you grew up around guns and your family hands them down thru the generations those are probably not registered, case in point I recently gave my niece my dads 30.06 after she was telling me she was going to buy one for her deer hunting .

The Feds and local law enforcement have been in my house and have looked at my weapons. I am sure if they have any reason to want my arsenal, they will take it.

If you look at AMC's Fear the Walking Dead - screen site - they have a fake California Executive order - http://images.sync.amctv.com/wp-cont...0ug3904834.pdf - item 7 authorizes confiscation of private property - that is a role model for an actual executive order in such an apocalyptic situation.

If an American citizen thinks his rights will be respected in such an event - they only have to look at Katrina's NO confiscation of weapons - most of them still haven't been given back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-taU9d26wT4

And you Brits still seem to believe that everyone is honest about having or not having firearms in those surveys you post.

The gun fanciers' lobby has written legislation which makes suing gun manufacturers or vendors very difficult. In a country where you can sue people for anything which is dangerous by accident or error of design, the one thing you can't sue for is weapons designed precisely to be dangerous.
One: anyone who owns firearms and doesn't have them (and ammunition) in a gun safe, as some might say, is an idiot.

Two: in the US, more people are killed and hurt by drunk drivers, than by firearms. Nobody sues FORD, Jack Daniels or the places that sold them, why would you allow it for firearms and not for vehicles and booze?

The problem is with the people themselves, not the objects they used to kill/hurt someone.

JJ you are right about number one (hee hee I said no. 1) but not so right on two.

the Dram Shop Act adds an extra layer of liability, providing victims a greater chance of receiving due compensation from responsible parties. The Dram Shop Act makes businesses that serve liquor to an individual who is obviously intoxicated or close to it, partially liable for any injuries inflicted by the drunken individual.

"Joe" may derive from G.I. Joe, slang for the US soldiers of WWII. Or it might be that "Joe" is considered a generic, everyday name; ordinary Joe, regular Joe, Joe Bagodonuts, etc.

"Joe" as a slang for coffee may drive from military slang for a coffee pot, a joepot.

Gun deaths in the US are around three times those caused by drunken drivers and don't forget these deaths are "alcohol related"......the drivers had been drinking but whether this was actually a causal factor isn't stated.
In persective , the US has 83 gun deaths a day, the UK has around 50 a year , a triumph for the Second Amendment which was designed to make Americans safe

A factor gun control advocates hope is overlooked in the phrase "gun deaths" are suicides.. which account for nearly two-thirds of the gun deaths in America.

The actual number of gun homicides and drunken driving deaths are about equal (both around 11,000/year in a country of roughly 315,000,000 people).
