immigration in Europe good or bad?
This is a touchy subject, let's play nice!
Has immigration got out of control, has religion undermined our way of life? I find it ridiculous that people like Abu Hamsa (sic) who hated Great Britain was allowed to live there so long because of Brussels. Next year Romania and Bulgaria will be able to work in the UK and Ireland. Discuss.

From what I gather from posts here, your welfare system is better than Canada's so I think it is a great idea !
Seriously, Canada is having regrets about all the immigrants we allowed to enter the country because they are not assimilating. We are finally making it harder for "refugees" to enter the country. A politician recently made a speech to the Canadian-Chinese media in Chinese only. I don't know what worries me more - that we have a Canadian-Chinese media or that a politician represents their interests over the country's interests. Muslims tried to introduce Sharia law here. How about letting Irish Canadians and their ancestors come to Ireland ?

It's all OK if the people entering a country bring skills and knowledge of the language. And respect the culture and their hosts. Otherwise they should be sent home.

if youre quite well off and belong to the chattering midle classes its a good thing because you get a cheap and obedient house maid out of it
see mary beards or vicky prices recent appearances on bbc question time for that exact kind of view direct from the " horses mouth " [ horses mouth is not a cheap insult ...i'm not a twitter troll ] however if you were once that indigenous housemaid /cleaner and you were paid something ok for your efforts and allowed some free time but now have been undercut and rendered unemployed its not a good thing how long till its more than cleaners and porters who are made to work harder for longer though eh ? what with free movement of labour which country or former soviet state is next ? ukraine to join the eeu ? good luck to any blue collar workers out there hitherto earning a decent wage if concessions are made towards freedom of movement of labour with turkey a new era of master and servant is dawning fabulously rich and property owning on one side roosting 3 in a garden shed to do menial tasks on the other be honest even you septics its already starting to happen isnt it ? I have a wee woman who cleans my man den once a fortnight, she's local though. A nice polish girl would be nice.

We've had a few immigrants in the past , the Romans, Vikings, Normans to begin with, problems at the time but long term a good thing. Then the refugees from the French Terror, Eastern European pogroms and so on.We of course only got the best from abroad.
Regarding the recent influx, if a midwife in Poland on £42 a week can be an au pair in the UK for £70 a week all found it's very tempting for them. What I've seen of immigrants (and we don't get a lot here) is that they are pleasant, good hard working people and I have no problem with them. |

I mean the radicals who have no respect for society and its values.

I was in Catania, Sicily when that boat sank at Lampedusa - there weren't too many sad Sicilian faces when the news broke!
