Not surprisingly, she is in our "Most Beautiful Women to Grace Our Screens" thread:

Default A small tribute to one of the real ladies of Hollywood

Miss Tierney was a really beautiful actress with a charming and elegant presence on screen. She had a lot to put up with in her private life but didn't complain. She had class.

Her performances in Heaven Can Wait, Laura and The Ghost and Mrs Muir are very memorable. She is one of the great actresses of the 20th Century, no question about it. I've only collected these two stills, used in posts about her films, but they aren't here already so I thought it might be a good thing if they were.

Though scepticle at times, I can only pray that we have moved on since then.
Just my opinion and apologies if the subgect has already been touched upon.

Many thanks to all contributions.
Actually I didn't know that poor old Gene was up against racism as well. I was aware that Olivia de Havilland was of partly Indian descent and needed to guard this secret carefully in order to get work in 1930s Hollywood, which was a cruel and ruthless place. Gene's immediate family were wealthy and well connected in New York. This doesn't necessarily mean she either was or wasn't of partially Indian ancestry, as Olivia was. She did have a priveleged upbringing and even went to a ladies finishing school where no doubt she learned her impeccable deportment, flawless good manners, and the perfectionism, such a strength in her screen performances, which was no help when she was trying to cope with depression and misery in her personal life. I am speculating, but can't help suspecting that some of her unhappiness arose because she had unrealistically high expectations of herself and was merciless in her judgement on her own shortcomings. Yet she never exhibited self-pity or special pleading in her public life, always she had class.

smeeinnit, you're quite right that I am very much one of Ms Tierney's fans: she is high in my estimation as an actress and as a brave and dignified woman in her private misfortunes. She's been gone a long time but not forgotten. No indeed. Here's a very pleasing little tribute to the lady, posted on youtube by another fan. Full credit to the original poster.

These are small gallaries I collected for film posts in General News and Discussions. However, many members who like Miss Tierney don't frequent those parts and I thought it might be nice to post them here as well. Just in case anyone would like to read them, I'm posting my reviews of the films as well.
